Community Brief

As we go into our last week before winter break, it will be hard not to look past the next four days. In a performance, you can't give up before the finale. In sports, you can't walk off the field or court before a match or game is completed. You perform and play to the very end. You receive congratulations or gratification from giving it your all the entire way.

Success comes from focus every period, every day. It's an expectation of our teachers and, in turn, an expectation for our students to remain committed until this Thursday when the bell rings at 2:20 PM. Then, we should all enjoy a well deserved break with loved ones celebrating this winter season.

With Phoenix Pride,

Mr. Doug Loftus
Principal

This past Tuesday, a number of our students made the trek to Sarasota to study some of the famous artworks on display at the beautiful John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (the state art museum of Florida).

Chemistry with Mrs. Dipasquale

This is a snapshot of Mrs. Dipasquale's "Common Board Configuration" or CBC from this past Friday. When her chemistry students enter the classroom, they know exactly what to expect across multiple fronts such as the upcoming lesson at hand, learning goal for the day, homework assignment, etc.

Monday's Motivational Moment
WHAT WE SAY WILL NEVER BE RECOVERED

Once an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief. As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later the young man was proven innocent.

After being released he sued the old man for wrongly accusing him.

In the court the old man told the judge: "They were just comments; they didn't harm anyone."

The judge told the old man: "Write all the things you said about your neighbor on a piece of paper. Cut them up and on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out. Tomorrow, come back to hear your sentence."

The next day, the judge told the old man: "Before receiving your sentence, you will have to go out and gather up all the pieces of paper that you threw out yesterday."

The old man said: "I can't do that! The wind spread them and I won't know where to find them."

The judge then replied: "The same way, simple comments may destroy the honor of a man to such an extent that one is not able to fix it. If you can't speak well of someone, rather don't say anything."

The lesson for our students? Consider first what you say about others carefully, for once you say it, it cannot be taken back.

Happy Holidays!
