Canada Day Parade

Happy Birthday Canada!! To help celebrate expect to see library staff once again taking part in the annual Canada Day Parade. We're not giving anything completely away but this year our question is 'Forget Waldo, where's 'Walter'? See you at the parade!   
Recording Station Tours
Beginning July 25

Our new Recording Service has launched!  Interested in staring your own podcast, recording music, or making your own videos? We'll be offering tours four times a week starting July 25. Each tour will focus either on audio or video recording and helps get you started!

Family Movie Nights in the Plaza
Friday, July 6 | Labyrinth, 9 p.m.
Friday, July 20 | E.T., 9 p.m.

Come and enjoy an outdoor movie, shown on a big screen at sunset. Before the movie there will be lots of family-friendly activities, piano sing-alongs, face painting and entertainment. Bring your own chair or blanket and arrive early! The pre-movie fun gets started at 7 p.m.!  

Digital Creators: Media Literacy Summer Camp
July 16 - 20, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

For youth in grades 6, 7 & 8. The participants of the camp will explore media literacy topics through the creation of digital content using NVCL's new Recording Creation Station. Working in groups, they will take part in fun, hands-on activities and games, becoming skilled at creating and assessing different kinds of online content. This camp is a partnership with The Cinematheque.

Long Table Lunches
Every Thursday in July and August, 12 - 2 p.m.

Back by popular demand, come have lunch this summer at the Long Table Lunch! Bring your lunch, or grab a snack from nearby. With live music, outdoor games and plenty of seating, enjoy your lunch and connect with your community!

This year's theme: Motion Commotion! Please register at the Children's Desk, pick up your reading record, and start reading! There will be a weekly prize draw! 

Family Board Games in the
Children's Garden
Wednesdays in July and August, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Come play board games with other families in our Children's garden. Enjoy an evening of entertainment in the shade of the library.  Board games will be supplied. Drop-in

Summer LEGO Club
Wednesdays and Saturdays in July, 2 - 2:45 p.m.

For ages 5 and up. What can't you build with LEGO? Put your best building skills to the test! LEGO is provided and you're welcome to create and explore to your heart's content. Drop-in

Children's Storytimes

The Library has a number of regular weekly storytimes for various age groups. In addition to the in-library storytimes, there will be weekly storytimes at Ray Perrault park and St. Andrew's park in July and August. Please see the calendar for dates and times. Drop-in

This year's theme is Parallel Worlds. Sign up at the 2nd floor media desk. You'll get a reading record to track your weekly reads and take part in fun summer challenges which will make you eligible for our weekly prize draw. Share your book reviews to earn more prizes - from candy to gift cards!
