Special State Representative Election District 114
ATTENTION TOWN OF CUTLER BAY VOTERS
SPECIAL STATE REPRESENTATIVE ELECTION
TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2018

Please be reminded of the Special Election for State Representative, District 114 which includes the Town of Cutler Bay.  The Special Election will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 and registered voters may participate in early voting, absentee voting or voting in person at your assigned precinct on May 1.  

The Special Election was called to fill the vacancy of the former State Representative who resigned.  You must be a registered voter and polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Town Launches Citizen Financial Transparency Portal
In March 2018, the Town launched its first Citizen Transparency Portal in an effort to increase public trust by promoting an accountable government. Residents are able to access the Transparency Portal through the Town's website and stay informed on Town expenditures.

Town's Active Adults Enjoy a Day of Play at Zoo Miami 

On Tuesday, March 13th the Parks and Recreation Department coordinated an exciting outing to Zoo Miami for active adults within our community. A group of fifteen (15) Town residents were welcomed by Mayor Peggy R. Bell before leaving the Town Center building en route to the Zoo. 
 

 
Town's Executive Interns Recognized during the 2018 Relay for Life of South Dade 

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, students of the Town's iPrep Executive Internship Program collaborated with Cutler Bay's Parks & Recreation Department to participate in the 2018 Relay for Life of South Dade. This year's theme was Broadway Musicals which attracted over a thousand residents & neighbors of all ages from all four (4) host municipalities. This year's Relay for Life was hosted by Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Homestead and Cutler Bay at Coral Reef Park. 
 
Miami Lighthouse for the Blind Presentation at East Ridge at Cutler Bay 

On Tuesday, March 20 th the Parks and Recreation Department coordinated a very informative presentation from the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind which was held at East Ridge at Cutler Bay. A group of approximately twenty (20) participants learned of many different options they have if they are facing low vision problems. 
Town's Public Works Director Highlighted at Greenways and Trails Forum 

On Thursday, March 15 th the Town's Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero, was invited to participate on a panel at the Greenways and Trails Forum: Creating Connections - A Seamless and Sustainable Network. During the Forum, Mr. Quintero presented highlights from the Town's award-winning Old Cutler Road Roadway Improvements Project. The Old Cutler Road Roadway Improvements Project is a great example of how a Complete Streets roadway can be designed to protect pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.

Town Celebrates 10 th Annual "Easter Egg Hunt" with Residents 

On Saturday, March 24 th , the Town celebrated its 10 th Annual "Easter Egg Hunt" to welcome the Spring Season. This family-friendly event took place at Cutler Ridge Park on a gorgeous, sunny day. Approximately 400 residents and neighbors participated in this annual tradition.

Town Hosts Florida-Friendly Landscaping Workshop
On Saturday, March 31, 2018, the Town hosted a free Workshop at Cutler Ridge Park entitled "The 9 Principles of Florida-Friendly Landscaping" . The Workshop was presented in partnership with the University of Florida IFAS Extension Office, Miami Dade County Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces, and Miami Dade County Water & Sewer Departments. The workshop was well attended, and Council Member Mary Ann Mixon joined fellow neighbors in learning more about various ways that residents can help to conserve our community's natural resources.

Sharing the ride reduces traffic congestion, improves air quality, and promotes better health for South Florida residents.

Cutler Bay Mobile App
This user friendly mobile app gives residents access to the latest news and events happening in the Town. Residents can also use the app to report any issues or concern via their phone. Residents can download the app for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Cutler Bay FL"


Crime Mapping
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department utilize CrimeMapping to help law enforcement provide the public with valuable information about recent crime activity in their neighborhoods. Crime data is uploaded on a daily basis so that the information being viewed by residents is only a few days old. To view crime trends in your neighborhood, please visit www.crimemapping.com


Community on Patrol (COP) App
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department offer the Community on Patrol (COP) App to allow the residents of Miami-Dade to be on patrol in their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to the Town's Policing Unit.  The COP App can be downloaded for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Community on Patrol"

Nextdoor
Nextdoor is a website that makes it easy to communicate with your neighbors about the issues that matter most in your community. The website allows neighbors to share recommendations about local services, organize neighborhood events and connect with parents and other groups in the neighborhood. The Town's Policing Unit staff uploads neighborhood alters through Nextdoor. Nextdoor protects you, your information, and your neighborhood. Miami-Dade Transit Tracker
Miami-Dade County Transit, which updates the Town's Circulator Bus Service, encourages you to utilize the Miami-Dade Transit Tracker App to help track your ride and plan your trip. The program allows riders to attain real-time tracking of the Town's Municipal Circulator, Metrobus and Metrorail. The App also provides fare information, Miami-Dade Transit contacts, bus schedules, and connecting buses.
