University Avenue Redesign Concepts- April 16th

Come meet the candidates for the Public Safety Director/Chief of Police- April 17th
A public reception will be held at the Council Chambers at 1131 66 th Street from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 to meet the candidates for the City of Windsor Heights Public Safety/Chief of Police position. Keep watch for a press release that will be released next week on the candidates.
2018 Street Rehabilitation City News Hour April 9th 
The City News Hour on April 9 th at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers will be on the 2018 Street Rehabilitation Project.

The Project consists of street repairs on various streets throughout the City, including HMA overlay and concrete street patching. The street rehabilitation project includes 70th Street, between University Avenue and Hickman Road, and will include concrete patching along with other concrete work. This work will begin in April and conclude in early fall of 2018. Road closures will occur. Please pay special attention to all road signs for closure notices. Use alternate routes during any closures.

The HMA portion of the project will begin in the summer of 2018. Access to driveways will be affected for short periods of time while work is being performed. Residents affected will receive notification letters prior to construction. See the project page on the City website for more information.
63rd Street Sidewalk Construction
The Contractor will continue installing driveways and sidewalk on 63 rd Street between College Drive and Sunset Terrace the week of April 9 th.  Once this block is complete, they will move on to the segment between Sunset Terrace and Colby Avenue.  The weather the coming week will determine how much gets completed.

Residents will need to remove all vehicles out of their driveways and garages by 7:00 a.m. when work starts on their segment. They will be working one segment/block at a time. They anticipate it will take approximately 1-2 weeks per block/segment

Notices will be given prior to driveway removal for those residents south of Sunset Terrace. Residents on 63rd Street will have received a construction newsletter on the project. Lane closures on 63 rd Street will occur during the
construction of the sidewalk. You can expect lane closures during the times of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on 63 rd Street .

Fight for Air Climb- April 8th 
On Sunday, April 8, multiple members of the Windsor Heights (Iowa) Fire Department will climb 85 floors, 1,796 steps in full gear to raise funds for healthy lungs and healthy air. Climbing in full gear will add an extra 70 pounds to each member.

As the largest fundraising climb program in the country, the Fight for Air Climb makes a significant impact on those affected by lung disease. The funds raised support research, education and patient programs to help the millions of Americans impacted by asthma, COPD, lung cancer, air pollution and other lung diseases.
