GSSCC Members Donate $1,020 to Community Bridges

Members and guests at GSSCC's "Jingle & Mingle" holiday networking event last week made contributions ranging from $10 to $100 to support one randomly drawn non-profit member in attendance.  Community Bridges was the lucky non-profit member chosen to receive the giant check, provided courtesy of Sign*A*Rama Silver Spring. (A real check in the amount of $1,020, was sent later.) Sign*A*Rama owner Stacey Brown was the lucky winner of a case of wine, provided by Lee Development Group, as a raffle prize for which contributing members were eligible to win.

GSSCC Advocacy Working for You, Providing Resources for Business

As the new year begins, GSSCC will continue to monitor legislation at both the County ad State levels, keep members informed of relevant matters that affect business, and work to advocate for a strong economy that helps both businesses and the community to grow.  The most recent election brought many changes to the County, including a new County Executive and four new Councilmembers.  Our district representatives for greater Silver Spring remain the same, but there are some new faces among our At-Large representatives.  GSSCC's Government Affairs and Economic Development Committees are working on an initiative to educate these new representatives on the challenges we face in Silver Spring.  As we work toward achieving our vision of a prosperous business community that contributes to a vibrant greater Silver Spring, it will be important to have business voices at the table.  GSSCC encourages members to contact County Council representatives. Let them know about your business, your concerns, and how important your success is to our County.  To help you do that, here's a link to contact information for all the members of the Council.  For more information about the role of the Council, click here
