Rector's Reflections

This Sunday, December 16th we welcome the Rev. Jason Wells, Executive director of the New Hampshire council of Churches as our preacher (I will be the celebrant and look forward to hearing Jason+ preach). Through the Council, denominations in the Granite State co-operate to promote Christian unity, prayer, interfaith dialogue, and the strengthening of Christian values in society. Come learn how the council with faith-filled witness and action, mutual respect, and understanding - unites for Prayer, Learning, Justice, Peace, and Stewardship of God's Creation. The Council and their Women's Prison Ministry are our Christmas 2018 offering designee.

This week we mark the Third Sunday in Advent when the presence of the Lord "in our midst" in the wonder of the holy supper is cause for singing. The nearness of the Lord in prayer, in every circumstance, is cause for rejoicing. The coming of one "more powerful" than John, even with his winnowing fork in his hand, is good news-and cause for exultation-for us who are being saved. Great joy is the tone for the third Sunday of Advent.

Rejoicing in the Lord always!
Bill+

The readings for this Sunday are:
Zephaniah 3:14-20 - Rejoice, the Lord is in your midst
Isaiah 12:2-6 - In your midst is the Holy One of Israel. (Is. 12:6)
Philippians 4:4-7 - Rejoice, the Lord is near
Luke 3:7-18 - One more powerful is coming, baptizing with fire
Please Note!
Ralph Simons will be covering the 12/28 edition of the eNews so please
forward any articles for that issue to Ralph.
Thank you,
Carolyn
Thank You Office Angels

Parish Administrator (AKA 'Archangel') Deb Hoyt hosted a delightful gathering of our Office Angels to thank them for all of their help covering the office during her vacation time and assisting with weekly bulletin and special mailing projects throughout the year. A highlight of the event were the vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting dusted in gold sugar and topped with rice paper angel wings-truly 'heavenly'!

Wolfeboro Reads
 Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:30

Wolfeboro Reads for December & January

Passages from the prophet Isaiah are among the most familiar and beloved in Christian  literature as they are central to our worship during the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent  and Easter. But how much do we know about either the author or the perilous times through which he lived and wrote bring "light to a people living in darkness"?

The Rev's Gina Finocchiaro and Ted Rice will be co-facilitators (Pastor Bill will be a participant). To get a copy of the Kerygma Resource Book: Isaiah; Part I, Holy, Holy, Holy by Boyd Lien, a Presbyterian minister, artist and historian. Call/e-mail FCCW's church office  (kristafccw@gmail.com or 603-569-1555 x101). Study guides are $26.
