P.R.A.Y. Announces Volunteer Artist for Jesus and Me:
AHG Patriot is Selected
14-year-old Heidi S. from Eagan, Minnesota has been chosen to serve as graphic artist for P.R.A.Y.’s new K-1 project, Jesus and Me.

Heidi is no stranger to P.R.A.Y. She has earned both the God and Me and God and Family awards through her American Heritage Girls Troop. Heidi joined AHG in 2009 and is now a Patriot. She is also active in her church, Eagan Hills Church.

Heidi has been an avid artist from a young age. She draws and doodles every day and aspires to have a career as an artist and illustrator. Although only 14 years old, Heidi has provided illustrations for the AHG Pathfinder Handbook and cartoon animal designs for Beartooth Signs.

When asked to comment on making the transition from a P.R.A.Y. student to the volunteer artist for Jesus and Me , here’s what Heidi had to say: “ I’ve loved drawing since I was little and really started focusing on improving my skills these past few years through books, videos, and online guides. However, I often became discouraged when I wondered what use art could have. This opportunity has given me exactly what I prayed for: a chance to use the gifts God has given me in order to serve others, and I hope to continue to serve Him through my art in the future.

P.R.A.Y. is pleased to welcome Heidi to our team of volunteers.

As someone who knows the importance of our work, we are asking for your help. A 501(c)(3) non- profit, P.R.A.Y. relies on gifts to develop and produce Jesus and Me. Your gift of any size will provide the needed support to move our programs forward in 2018 and give early Christian learners in Kindergarten and First-Grade a curriculum connected to their experience. Would you consider a gift to support this new ministry?
15 Reasons I Love RP3
Ashli McCall
AHG Troop FL1230
Troop Shepherd; Assistant Unit Leader for Pioneers/Patriots

Ashli McCall is a BIG FAN of the RP3 Series. Her daughter is starting on the newest patch and then will have earned all of them to date. Several of the girls in the troop have earned the “Tents and Shelters” patch at a recent campout. Ashli is passionate about the series and has compiled a list, “15 Reasons I Love RP3.” Here it is:

1. It fills the gap between P.R.A.Y. program levels.
2. After one is finished with the P.R.A.Y. program the fun can continue with RP3!
3. It’s FREE!
4. It does not take long to complete.
5. It has relatable themes that focus on nature.
6. It is perfect for camp devotions.
7. Because there are a variety of activities to complete, there’s something for everyone!
8. The activities are realistic and reasonable.
9. It does not require much planning.
10. Each study is short, clear, and precise enough to hold the interest of the student.
11. Prayers are included.
12. It has options for all age levels, so no one is left out!
13. There is an option for pin or patch for many of the studies, which saves room on scout uniforms.
14. It’s a great resource for Troop Shepherds who often lead devotions.
15. New titles continue to be added.

Thanks, Ashli, for articulating all the many reasons why RP3 resonates with Troop Shepherds!

“Our Troop Shepherd leads the lessons for each age group every-other meeting for three months. Then, on the opposite meeting, Unit Leaders lead follow-up discussions with their group of girls.”

“This year, we have girls who are old enough to take turns teaching the RP3 lessons to the younger girls. The last Monday night of each month, they do one lesson. I went with the pins because they take up much less space on their vests and sashes.”

“I use the RP3 lessons for devotions with the Troop, but then I assemble individual packets with the materials needed for each girl to complete the activities at home.” Check out Vivian’s “Birds of the Air" packet   and the  “Tents and Shelters” packet   .

“I am the Troop Shepherd for AHG3411. [Our leadership] wanted to incorporate the RP3 patches into the AHG badge work rather than me allotting a day a month to go through them with me. I would like to use our Tenderhearts as a successful example of how they incorporated it into the program. The first badge work they started the year with was Architecture. So they started the meeting with going through the RP3 Boulder work. The leaders were able to introduce Architecture with the Bible. It has also sparked many deep conversations at the beginning of each meeting to better help and understand where each girl is at.”

“Currently we are taking the three stories of each badge (over three weeks) and doing the Read/Picture/Ponder requirements as our devotional at the start of the meeting. Parents and kids can then choose to do the remaining requirements [the “Put It Into Action” portion] as a family to earn the badge.” Click to see the modified version of the requirements that are sent home and the Facebook reminders posted on the troop page for The Good Book patch as well as the Birds of the Air patch .
