Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day!
Join us on Saturday, April 28th for the national party that takes place at Indie Bookstores across the country!
We'll be celebrating with ten local authors who will be roaming the store, talking to you and your kids, and giving you book suggestions and recommendations. (Of course we'll let them sign books too!)
We'll also have activities, including a
kids' coloring table and storytelling. Join us for the fun from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

The latest in Carmela's incredibly popular series about feisty princesses should be out just in time for Independent Bookstore Day, so join Carmela to celebrate its publication! Nancy's latest book, Soldier Sister, Fly Home, is an older middle grade story featuring Tess, a half Navajo girl who struggles with her identity on and off the reservation, as well as her sister's decision to enlist and fight in the Iraq war. Tess' relationship with a semi-wild stallion features prominently in the book--look for Nancy in our young adult and middle grade sections and ask her what tricks her own horse has played on her! Bart's Escape Out the Gate
Lisa is an author of children's picture books and is currently working on her first adult book, a WWII memoir about her father. Her latest picture book is Bart's Escape Out the Gate. The Chicken Pot Turtle series is a fun way to introduce children to different countries. Angela and Lisa will be in our kid's section--ask them how many countries they have visited and why they have chosen Nicaragua for the third in the series (coming out later this year). Look Both Ways in the Barrio Blanco
Denver-based Judith's debut middle grade novel has won multiple awards. The twelve-year-old daughter of undocumented Mexican immigrants finds herself caught between her immigrant family and a rich, famous mentor. You'll find Judith in our middle grade section. Paul Aertker is a regular at our local author events and on Independent Bookstore Day he'll be in the back of the store in our middle grade and YA section, talking books and making friends all day. Paul has a new book coming outt his year and we'll tell you more about that soon. In the meantime, his series, Crime Travelers continues to be a Bookies favorite.

Our
concert with the students of Neighborhood Music Stapleton takes place in the store on Saturday, April 14th from 3-4:30 p.m. Browse for books while listening to live music played by talented children--what could be better?
Also on Saturday, April 14th, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, we're hosting a small meeting of
