Message from the CEO Where were you in '93? The HISA archives are brimming with stories and highlights from the early days of health informatics community life. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary year, its fascinating to look back on the work of our first members and those early conferences (and conversations) and to acknowledge that we stand on the shoulders of giants! Many people have contributed to the development of health informatics in Australia and we want to acknowledge as many of you as possible this year. Now we are asking you to draw on your earliest HISA memories and mementos and send us emails, stories and photos to help celebrate 25 years of HISA. You could include pictures of early branch meetings, life in your health workplace, your ICT equipment, brands and of course anecdotes from your time at HISA. We plan to share this collection with delegates and exhibitors during HIC in Sydney (29 July 1 August). Contact us on email when you are ready to take a walk down memory lane for HISA!

HISA WA Branch held a HISA Meet-Up at the Murdoch campus of South Metro TAFE on 5 April to look at Expanding and Future Career Opportunities within Digital Healthcare throughout WA. HISA members including telehealth coordinator Josh Sacks went open mic to talk to students and TAFE staff about career opportunities available within the very diverse health informatics (HI) profession. The 2018 Australian Telehealth Conference in Sydney wrapped up last week, and the conference theme of Transforming Care, Virtual, Connected & Co-Designed meant that the topics of design thinking and co-design were on peoples minds throughout the two days.
UX designer Chris Marmo says in his blog one of the challenges noted during the conference was that it is difficult for people to know how to do design properly.

A short course in health informatics will be held at Flinders University in Adelaide from 2 to 6 July 2018. The course is led by Mark Brommeyer, chair of the Queensland Branch and is a well-recognised annual course. Closing date to register is 22 June.
Global Telehealth 2018 (GT2018) is calling for original contributions in all fields of telehealth (and closely related topics in eHealth) in the form of full Papers (maximum 8 pages or approximately 4000 words, not previously published).
