Raise a glass if you are sick of the snow already! We sure are and we have recommended a few red wines for the weekend (see our staff picks). Anyway, enough about the snow!!!

We want to welcome the newest addition to an already awesome team!!!. Doug Hultgren, our tallest ever team member is back! He has an assortment of certifications in wine, beer, and spirits. He most recently was the Somm at Bardo and will be our wine leader along with our store manager Patti Gamboni! (We love Bardo by the way!!)

Doug and Patti will be leading our wine buying along with the help of the existing great team!! We are excited that he's here to share his knowledge and his ability to grab bottles off the top shelf. You will be hearing a lot from Doug, as his focus will be on the newsletter, in our blog space, and helping to refresh our shelves with new wines & spirits. FEATURED WINES
SNOW IN APRIL?! - HOW 'BOUT A RED WINE...
Doug's Pick:
2015 Tasca d'Almerita Sallier de la Tour, Nero d'Avola
Two steps forward and one step back is basically how I feel so far about this Spring's weather. I was already stocking up on some heavier whites when snowpocalypse 3.0 hit us this week so I needed to reach for a quick Tuesday night red and was super pleased by Sallier de la Tour's 2015 Nero d'Avola. It's nose is all blackberry, ripe strawberry, and licorice with some of that old world spice. It was medium body and completely Netflixable. I'd bet this would be stellar with some pot roast this weekend. -$18.99
Patti's Pick:
2014 Mark Herold Wines "Flux" California Red
Mark Herold's "Flux" will blast thoughts of snow and frost from your mind. While I'm usually not a fan of high alcohol wines, "Flux" will warm us up. Opulent is the word that comes to mind when I think about this GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre) blend. Big, bold, and extracted it has a massive attack of fruit. Look for bright raspberry, wild blackberry jam, with a core of dusty tea leaves and dried thyme. -$24.99
Dave's Pick:
2015 Substance Cabernet Sauvignon
Now that Charles Smith has essentially sold his name to Constellation Brands for an obscene amount of money he has to be a bit more creative about getting consumers to connect to his brand. The 'Cs' on the label clearly stands for Cabernet Sauvignon or is it Charles Smith or both? Either way, he's listed on the back as the winemaker. Also, what he's created is one of the few true value domestic Cabernets around. The focus here is varietal correctness i.e. Cab that taste like Cab. This wine delivers with gobs of rich cassis and plum. The wine is deep and concentrated with a firm tannic backbone and a long finish. Pairs well with a snowy April. -$19.99
Madison's Pick:
2015 GD Vajra Barbera D'Alba
Make this your new Tuesday night wine. Have it with pizza. Drink it on the couch by yourself. Bring it to a nice dinner with friends. This is a wonderful, versatile barbera from an amazing producer. Its deep and full of finesse with bright red and black cherries, dark plum, earth, and spice. -$25.99
