"We Engage, Challenge, and Support Every Student, Every Day"
Principal's Message                                                           April 6, 2018

State testing is off to a great start and I am very pleased with the efforts of our students. I want to thank Dena Bruch for her hard work on planning and implementing our testing schedule. We have now successfully finished AIMS Science and AzMERIT Writing. Next week we will host AzMERIT Reading parts one and two, followed by AzMERIT Math later in April. It is important to share with your children the value of taking these exams seriously and giving their best effort. These scores are very valuable as they help us plan for interventions and can be an excellent guide for university and career planning. Please remind your children to get a good night of sleep and have a nice breakfast each day. Below is the testing schedule for the rest of the testing season.

April 10 & 12, Reading Part I
April 13 & 17, Reading Part II
April 19 & 20, Math Part I
April 23 & 24, Math Part II

Potato Cannon
Students in Dr. Paul's class help build and shoot a potato cannon. They are trying to hit a target with a potato cannon and hit a 3 foot by 3 foot target 1/3 of a mile away. They have hopes of doing it this year. We will see.

3-D Printing
Students in Dr. Paul's class are learning CAD Drawing by computer. As their challenge they are to duplicate the body of a micro drone and 3-D print the body. The final test is to make it fly. The extra assignment is to design their own body design. The picture shows bodies being made by the 3-D printer.

Senior Fees

Believe it or not, graduation is right around the corner! We are working hard to provide an amazing day for you and your family. To help plan, we have created a webpage on our school site to help. From the main site, click on "events" and scroll down to "graduation". On the right, there is a timeline link that you can print or share with friends and family. We will be updating that page over the next few weeks, so check back frequently. One item that needs immediate attention is the graduation fee associated with the ceremony. The fee, which has been in place for over a decade, helps to provide the ceremony at the Fountain Park. We have asked the students to pay this fee for the last two months, but have many that still have not paid the fee. The $50.00 fee can be paid with Cheryl DuBois in the front office. We have asked all seniors to turn in their fee by May 1, 2018 at the absolute latest. If you have any questions or concerns about the graduation fee, please feel free to call me at (480) 664-5511. We look forward to a memorable graduation night and I look forward to handing your child their diploma.

A Word From Our Falcon Fiesta Planning Committee

Below please find a general overview of what Falcon Fiesta is all about and what typically happens. The information below is subject to change.

What is Falcon Fiesta?
It is a well supervised, drug and alcohol-free graduation celebration which provides graduates with a safe evening of music, games, prizes and food ... all night! Falcon Fiesta takes place at the High School in the Gymnasiums and lasts from 10 pm until about 4 am the next morning. Graduates earn Tickets throughout the night by playing the games, which later can be used for drawings or to bid on and win some amazing prizes!. Everyone has an opportunity to leave with a prize and terrific memories. This event has been a huge success in the past years with an average of 80% of the graduating class attending.

Who can attend Falcon Fiesta?
All Graduates can attend and may invite one guest ... however, that guest MUST have completed 11th grade or older AND must arrive with the inviting Graduate. Guests may be friends, family members or graduates from another high school. Guests may not be over the age of 20 years old.

When is Falcon Fiesta?
Doors open at 10 pm after the graduation ceremony (Friday, May 25) and are closed at midnight. No one will be allowed into the event after midnight and no one will be allowed to enter if they are under the influence. If a graduate decides to leave early, they are signed out and are not allowed to return. Falcon Fiesta ends around 4 am. How much does it cost to attend? The fee for Falcon Fiesta is $50 per Graduate and $50 per guest; once inside everything is free! The ultimate goal is for ALL Graduates to attend. If this is cost prohibitive for any Graduate, please contact the graduate's school counselor.

How do I register? Graduates can register one of three ways ...
(1) at the School/Student Store;
(2) with Cheryl DuBois, Student Activity Secretary; or
(3) by mailing a check to FHHS, 16100 E. Palisades Blvd, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.

Checks should be made payable to Falcon Fiesta, with the graduate's name placed in the memo line.

Registration begins on Monday, March 19
How can I help with this event? We welcome your involvement! We need assistance with planning as well as help before, during and after the event. Please contact organizers by email at falconfiesta85268@gmail.com, or by phone 480-463- 0120 to volunteer. FHHS endorses this event and provides the facilities, but does not sponsor it. The Falcon Fiesta Committee is entirely responsible for this nearly $25,000 event, so we need your help. Your sponsorship can be in the form of financial contributions and/or gift cards. Checks can be made payable to Falcon Fiesta and mailed to the school (address above). If you are interested in being a sponsor, please email us at falconfiesta85268@gmail.com or contact Denise Weinreich at (480)612-1068.
