SITE Northeast Hosts Panel on Hotel Commission Cuts

On Tuesday, March 20th, 50 incentive travel professionals gathered at the iconic Boston Park Plaza to join the discussion  of commission reductions announced by Marriott earlier this year.

Moderator Loren Edelstein, Editor in Chief of Meetings & Conventions, presented new and exclusive research on the industry's reaction, and led an insightful Q&A with experts in the field to address t he immediate and longer-term impact on planners and suppliers including s pecific actions independent and corporate planners can take to offset lost income and better position their businesses for profitability.

Panel members included  renowned legal expert Jonathan Howe, Founding Partner and President of of Howe & Hutton Ltd; Owner of Make it Happen Management, David Landgraf, who spent the previous 11 years managing global conferences for Blackstone before launching his business this past January; and Hotel industry leader and Past SITE Northeast President, Matt Davis with Omni Hotels & Resorts, who represented the Hotel perspective.
 
This hot topic event received global coverage and participants left with specific actions independent and corporate planners can take to offset lost income and better position their businesses for profitability.

SITE Northeast Announces SITE-Wide Challenge 
to Fight Child Prostitution and Trafficking

Following a successful CSR activity sponsored by the SITE Northeast Chapter at the opening of  SMU International in New York City, the chapter announced a global SITE Fundraising Challenge to all Chapters to donate a minimum of $500 to ECPAT in 2018.

Carol Smolenski, Executive Director of  End Child Prostitution and Traffickin g  (ECPAT), and Caroline Pidroni, VP of CSR for the SITE Northeast Chapter  have announced a 2018 fundraising challenge for all the local chapters of SITE  to raise money for ECPAT for awareness of the plight of children caught up in prostitution and trafficking around the world.

The challenge is being issued to all 29 local SITE chapters around the world to donate a minimum of $500 to ECPAT in 2018.

The CSR Event, in partnership with ECPAT, took place at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge on February 25 and joined together over 75 event attendees  to create 100 goodie bags that were distributed to needy children in the New York area.
