Anatoly I. Antonov
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States
  
His Excellency Anatoly Ivanovich Antonov

was born on May 15, 1955, in Omsk, a city in southwestern Siberia. He earned a B.A. and an M.A. in International Relations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1978 and 1983, respectively. Later, in 2012, Antonov earned a Ph.D. in Political Science at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations in Moscow.

Antonov began his diplomatic career in 1978, spending the next 33 years at the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its successor, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Antonov is fluent in English and Burmese.

Trade Mission to Moscow and St. Petersburg Economic Forum
June 2-8, 2019

The U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) invites you to participate in a Trade mission to the    St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Participants will have an opportunity to meet Russian government officials and some of the most influential leaders in U.S.-Russia trade and investment relations. The USRCC will coordinate private meetings, an exclusive CEO Roundtable and introductions, in addition to attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPEIF).

ExxonMobil in major gas discovery off Cyprus
 
Irishtimes.com, February 28, 2019: ExxonMobil has made a substantial gas discovery in the waters off Cyprus, marking the latest find in the eastern Mediterranean which is rapidly transforming into a major energy play. The company said the preliminary well data suggested there was between five trillion and eight trillion cubic feet in place, or the equivalent of more than 1 billion barrels of oil in energy terms, making it the biggest discovery off Cyprus so far. "These are encouraging results in a frontier exploration area," said Steve Greenlee, president of ExxonMobil Exploration Company.   Read more...
Shell buys UK digital energy innovator Limejump

Spglobal.com, February 28, 2019: Oil company Shell has bought UK digital energy innovator Limejump for an undisclosed sum, the two companies said Wednesday. The deal comes days after Shell bought German domestic solar/battery vendor Sonnen, and follows a string of acquisitions for its New Energies subsidiary. "Shell will help us to drive our technology platform to new heights and support the Limejump team to make a bigger impact on the industry," said Limejump CEO Eric Nygard.   Read more...
Turkish Airlines introduces new business class bedding

February 27, 2019: Turkish Airlines is promising a better sleep in the sky with the introduction of new business class bedding for intercontinental flights. Designed in conjunction with European company Zorlu Textiles Group and dubbed the Flow Sleeping Set, the collection integrates feedback from passengers to promote in-flight comfort and a better sleep experience, while also taking cues from the Star Alliance member's updated uniforms and cabin designs.  Read more...

Positive Signals in Vietnam- Russia Bilateral Trade in Early 2019

Nhandan.org, February 28, 2019: Nhan Dan Newspaper correspondent based in Russia, Nam Dong, quoted data provided by the Vietnamese Trade Office in Russia as stating that trade activities between the two nations last year were very positive. Following that momentum, right from the beginning of 2019, import and export turnover between the two has also increased strongly. In January 2019, Vietnam's export turnover to Russia reached US$230 million, up 29% compared to the same period last year.   Read more...
Greece 'attractive' for Russian investments, ND chief tells TASS

Ekathimerini.com, February 27, 2019: Greece is interested in attracting Russian investments in tourism, trade, transport and real estate, and would also like to see the country involved in Greece's privatization program, opposition New Democracy chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during a visit to Moscow on Wednesday. Speaking to Russia's TASS news agency, the leader of the conservative party, which is leading in public opinion polls ahead of general elections this year, stressed that Greece should be regarded as an "attractive" country by Russian investors.  Read more... 
Iran, Russia sign cooperation document in transit field

Azernews.az, February 28, 2019: Iranian and Russian officials on Wednesday signed a cooperation document in field of road transportation, Trend reports citing IRNA. Manouchehr Salmanzadeh, an official affiliated to Iran's Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and Tatiana Yugeniuna, an official from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in field of road transportation.  Read more...
Major Russian Energy Company May Start Exploration In Equatorial Guinea In 2019 - Minister

Urdupoint.com, February 28, 2019: A major  Russian energy  company is "90-percent confirmed" to start exploration in  Equatorial Guinea before the end of  2019, the African country's Energy Minister Gabriel Mbaga Obiang  Lima told Sputnik in an interview. "I have a very good scoop, that there is a major  Russian  company that is 90 percent confirmed that before the end of this year will be in  Equatorial Guinea. It's almost done. We are receiving a lot of interest, a lot of encouragement, that's what they are saying. Personally they are interested in the blocks that have discoveries. So it's not going to be just exploration blocks, they will be able to send both an exploration plan and a discovery plan," the minister said.  Read more...
Russia to invest in LNG-fueled commercial vehicles network

Kallanishenergy.com, February 28, 2019: Russia will grow the use of liquefied natural gas in commercial transport vehicles, Kallanish Energyunderstands. The trend has been growing rapidly in other areas, such as China, the U.S. and Europe, and it would be beneficial for Russia, Shell executive vice president Russia Cederic Cremers said Wednesday at International Petroleum Week, in London. (Kallanish Energy was in attendance.) The target is to develop a network of commercial heavy-duty transport vehicles, such as LNG fueled trucks, vessels and trains. Vast areas of the country can be covered and decarbonized more easily in this way rather than with electrification, and the abundant sources of natural gas will be able to provide fuel in a cost-effective manner.   Read more...
Morocco and Russia extend fishing agreement and look confidently into the future

Africandailyvoice.com, February 26, 2019: Morocco and Russia agreed to extend their fisheries and cooperation agreement into 2019. The secretary general of Morocco's Maritime Fisheries Department, Zakia Driouch, and head of Russia's Federal Fisheries Agency, Ilya Shestakov, signed the agreement. The Moroccan-Russian Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Maritime Fisheries agreed on an 8 percent increase to Russia's fishing quotas in Moroccan waters for this year. For 2019, Morocco increased the authorization for fishing to 140,000 tons of fish, compared to 129,500 tonnes last year.  Read more...
Russian embassy to train Indian students for space missions

The Tyumen Region Presented its Tourism Potential in Serbia

Belarus-designed dairy farm opens in Sakhalin

Eng.belta.by, February 27, 2019: A big commercial dairy farm of the Belarusian design was put into operation in Russia's Sakhalin on 27 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the governor and government of Sakhalin Oblast. "The construction of the agricultural facility in the village of Razdolny, Korsakov District, was launched in 2016. Once fully operational, the company will produce some 7,000 tonnes of milk and 200 tonnes of meat annually," the press service said.  Read more...
Azerbaijan, Russia discuss international trade, cargo issues

Azernews.az, February 28, 2019: Azerbaijan and Russia discussed transport and logistics issues to further expand trade and cargo volumes. A meeting of the Logistics Commission of the Azerbaijani-Russian Business Council was held, the Ministry of Economy told Report. The event was attended by more than 20 entrepreneurs and businessmen who are members of the council. Chairman of the Commission Natig Heydarov welcomed the participants in the introductory speech and briefed on the recent projects in the field of logistics, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, Astara terminal and other projects.  Read more...

Таиланд закупает российские самолеты 

Innov.ru, 28 февраля, 2019: Российское предприятие «Гражданские самолеты Сухого» договорилось с тайской компанией Kom Airlines Company Limited о поставке отечественных авиалайнеров Sukhoi Superjet 100. Соответствующее соглашение стороны подписали в Бангкоке в минувший четверг, 28 февраля. Как стало известно, в рамках договоренностей ГСС поставит в Таиланд шесть SSJ100 в компоновке на 100 мест в период с 2019 по 2020 год. В России более чем на 30% увеличилось число студентов из Индии и Китая

Russian.rt.com, 27 февраля, 2019: Число иностранных студентов в России из Индии и Китая за год выросло на 37% и 31% соответственно. Это следует из данных, предоставленных RT Федерацией мигрантов России со ссылкой на МВД. Так, для получения образования в российских вузах в 2018 году были поставлены на миграционный учёт 21 тыс. студентов из Индии и 76 470 из Китая. За 2017 же год на учёт были поставлены 15 328 индийских студентов и 58 352 китайских. Согласно данным организации, с 2017 года увеличилось число учащихся и из других стран. В 2018 году на миграционный учёт было поставлено 86 447 студентов из Казахстана, 34 763 из Таджикистана и 34 203 из Узбекистана.  Читать далее...
