Dear Parents / Guardians, Students, Staff, and Friends of the Sanborn Regional High School Community. Here are your latest important announcements from Sanborn Regional High School:

Senior Spotlight : Nate Epstein
An Article by Teacher Nicole St. Jean

Nate Epstein is a graduating senior this year at Sanborn Regional High School.  Nate is a very outgoing and friendly student. He is always willing to help out and enjoys fixing things for peers and staff.  I have had the pleasure of teaching Nate in Junior English last year. I enjoyed listening to his stories about his dog as well as hearing about his endeavors outside of school.  Many other teachers and staff members have enjoyed getting to know Nate as well. Mrs. Feeney states, "
Nate is one of the funniest, and most down to earth kids that I've met at Sanborn. On any given day you can count on Nate to have a funny quip or remark that makes others smile. I know he is driven to be an important part of our community and others will be lucky to have him as a first responder."
Nate is currently doing an internship with the Kingston Fire Department.  He has been learning about fire behavior, the history of the fire department, and how to treat patients from a medical standpoint.  He has become an important part of the fire department community and has learned a lot, which will prove useful after he graduates high school.  Kingston Fire Chief Seaman states, " I have enjoyed Nate's interest over the years both as a Fire Explorer and most recently as an intern and my team here at Kingston Fire Department has consistently been working with Nate to keep him interested and engaged in the field of Emergency Fire / Rescue."
Nate has many interests, which include welding, auto, scouting for the Boy Scouts, hanging out with friends, working, and being a part of the fire department.  Mr. Duffy states, "I really enjoyed Nate in Auto class last year. He was always there ready to help me and other students. I hope he continues in the fire and EMS training and does it full time.   He should go to college and study fire science. I believe if he does he will do a great job."
After graduation, Nate hopes to attend a recruit school for fire fighting in order to get his fire certification.  He's also interested in getting his EMT certification. I am confident that Nate will succeed in life after high school and I look forward to hearing about the path he takes.
Senior Spotlight : Mike Gaffney
An Article by Teacher Jack Kelly

Mike Gaffney has motor oil in is veins and I mean that in the most positive way possible.  If you see Mike around school, talking to his friends he is most likely talking about cars.  Since I like to talk about cars, I usually stop and interject my opinion into the conversation.  (That's one of the major benefits of being a teacher, you get to interject your opinion). Mike is a second year SST auto student.  He works in Portsmouth at Key Auto Center, a job he was recommended for by his SST teacher. Mike intends to make his career as an Automotive Technician after graduation.

Mike is always smiling, always in a good mood.  He is one of those kids who move between social groups effortlessly.  He is a gearhead, yet he played football for several years. He has that "cool" aura thing going on, but if you see him walking into school with his sister Meagan, it's clear how close he is to his family.

I have worked with Mike for two years now and he is one of my favorite kids.  When I pull into an Auto Dealership someday in the not too distant future, and Mike is my tech, I will know I am in good hands.

Graduation Date Set for June 15, 2018
A Message From Principal Brian M. Stack

Dear Seniors,
It is hard to believe your time at Sanborn is almost over! This is an exciting time of year with many events and activities culminating with graduation set for Friday, June 15, 2018 . Congratulations to all seniors on your many accomplishments.
If weather permits, we will hold graduation on the library lawn. In the event of poor weather, we may have to hold graduation in the gymnasium. If this is the case all attendees will need a ticket to enter the gym. The week of graduation you will receive eight (8) admission tickets for the gymnasium ceremony. That same week, we will also hold a lottery to distribute any extra tickets that we can to families that need more than 8 tickets. Due to fire code regulations, we may not be able to accommodate all requests for additional tickets. You are encouraged to ask your classmates if they have extra tickets they could give you if you need more than eight.

The following is a list of senior activities for the remainder of the school year. Seniors who are on the "probationary" graduation list are not permitted to participate in senior activities and should speak to their counselor to find out what they need to do to be removed from probation. Please note the mandatory activities and graduation practices on June 14 and 15. Please also remember that all students must have their $50 class dues ($20 senior dues) paid in order to participate in the graduation ceremonies.

Prom Tickets On Sale!
The Prom Will Be Held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 6:30 at DiBurro's in Haverhill
The prom is Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 6:30PM at DiBurro's in Haverhill. Doors will open at 6:30. The public is invited to the annual promenade event, which will be held at 4:30PM at the high school the day of prom. This is a great opportunity to take pictures of our students dressed in their finest.

Tickets will be sold at lunch from Monday April 9 - Friday April 20. Ticket prices are $65 for one and $120 for 2. Juniors and seniors may purchase tickets, and may bring a guest that is a freshman or a sophomore (or a guest from another school, provided they are not 21+ in age but at least in high school). At the time of ticket sales, students are asked to bring the information for their guest if they are bringing one. Class dues must be paid prior to purchasing tickets to prom.

Parents, please be aware that students will be expected to adhere to the following expectations to be eligible to attend the prom. They will sign a contract acknowledging their understanding of these rules:

STUDENT PROM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The prom is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2018. In order for students to be eligible for the prom, ALL of the following conditions must be met:

  1. The student must be in school on Friday, May 11, 2018 for the full day (unless the student has a documented doctor appointment or other similar documented excuse that has been cleared in advance with an administrator).

  1. The student must resolve any IWS grades that caused them to be placed on the IWS list prior to Thursday, May 10, 2018.

  1. Seniors cannot be on the "graduation probation" list.

  1. All school rules apply at school events such as the prom. The administration reserves the right to question any student who is believed to be in violation of a school rule at or prior to the prom. Every student will have their bags searched prior to entering the facility and the administration will have a breathalyzer in the event that it is needed.

By signing this contract, the student understands that if they purchase a ticket for the prom and then are found to be ineligible to attend, they will NOT be issued a refund and they will NOT be able to attend the prom. Tickets are not refundable OR transferable. In other words, you cannot transfer or resell your ticket to someone else.

Do You Have Unwanted Clothing?
Please Use Our Planet Aid Donation Boxes, Located in the Staff Parking Lot

When you drop your unwanted clothing off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
