Recording Station Launch
Launching June 19 at 11 a.m.!

Our newest digital media experience launches June 19 at 11 a.m. The Recording Creation Station will give you the opportunity to explore and learn about video and audio production, free with your library card. You can:
  • Film your own YouTube video or 'vlog'
  • Rehearse a job interview on camera
  • Produce an audition tape
  • Record your own music
  • Create your own audiobook
  • Record a podcast
Our newest creation station will be open to all those 13 years of age or over. 
Spokes 'N' Words Launch
Wednesday May 30, 3 - 5 p.m. in the Plaza

Spokes 'N' Words is a tricycle with a cabinet on the rear where users will be able to get and return books, get a library card, and participate in storytimes. It has an umbrella for sun and rain protection, as well as WiFi for tech questions. If you're interested in seeing Spokes 'N' Words in action, come to this public party in celebration of Bike to Work Week in the City Plaza. All are welcome to attend.

Drones and Aerial Technology
Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

Drones are revolutionizing the way we live and do business. Join drone pilot Ronald Meza of Coastline Robotics, who will provide an overview of drone technology, with insights into the implications of the technology for our future. There will be drone models for participants to explore, and a demo flight of a micro-first-person-view drone inside the library!

The two-part intro to audio recording class series (scheduled for May 31 and June 7) has been cancelled. We'll be offering audio recording classes with Audacity in the Fall, but in the meantime please check out the Lynda.com Audacity tutorial.

Canning and The Joy of Pickling
Wednesday, June 13, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Join the Greater Vancouver Food Bank in a taster session offering you the opportunity to learn how to make your own pickles. This workshop will explore two ways of pickling vegetables. We'll show you how to make a simple refrigerator pickle, and also how to safely can pickles using the boiling water bath method . Drop-in

Cookie Decoration Workshop For Adults
Saturday, June 23, 2 - 4 p.m.

Interested in learning about cookie decoration as a new skill? Join us in a special workshop for ages 16 and over, hosted by two Library Small Grant winners. In this workshop, our presenters will review recipes and teach decoration techniques with butter and sugar cookies.
