WTS' SW Idaho Chapter Transportation YOU program was very busy this fall with two tours and the kick-off of our mentorship program.

On August 14  th   we had the opportunity to take a tour of Motive Power. The tour included a trip through the component shop, the fabrication shop, the testing area, and the finish shop. It was an awesome opportunity to get up close and personal with many of the amazing locomotives and we learned "tons" of facts about engines and operators.

The Transportation YOU program has also started the mentorship program that has been in the works over the last year. We have partnered with West Middle School to bring lunch and interesting STEM presentations every month to interested young women in the 9th grade. Each month, we bring in a local professional to give a presentation on what they do and how STEM has influenced their careers and lives. These presentations are accompanied by a fun activity incorporating the presentation. Our first presentation was an introduction of ourselves and our program and we played a break the ice activity. Coming up are presentations on COMPASS, construction inspection, and more. We are really excited about where and what this program promises!
