In this week's story, we hear about a community "of one heart and soul" ...but, perhaps not surprisingly, this unity is short-lived. What does the early church have to say to us about what unites us as a community and what is likely to divide us? Amy Starr Redwine's sermon is entitled "More...or Less"

Children

Pray for those affected by gun violence
Since a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012, killing 26 people, 20 of them children; 924 people in Cuyahoga County have been killed by guns. Since last month, 15 more individuals have died by gun violence in Cuyahoga County. The names of those at least 18 years of age are:
Ryan Michael Chappell, Dallas King, Miriam Johnson, Pasha Leuna Thomas, Curtis Lamont Britton, James David Mullins, Joshua Derek Bowers, Arriano John Cesa, Janice Lou Cesa, Nicholas Shane Russell, Vasyl Skubyak, Gary Lee Cowley, and Stanimar Grujicic. Eight of those who died were by suicide, and one victim was under eighteen.
Believing God calls us to be peacemakers, by Session action, each month we pray for people affected by gun violence and to reduce the evil of gun violence in our nation, marked by the tolling of the tower bell. The Church of the Covenant partners with God Before Guns, a multi-faith coalition of individuals and faith communities created in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, to reduce gun violence. Out of the Office: Next week, Melanie Marsh Baum, Kevin Lowry, Amy Starr Redwine, and Mindy Stewart will be out of the office on a leadership retreat Monday through Wednesday. Joining them in Atlanta for the retreat are elders Barb Clint and Jim Smekal, member (and elder-nominee) Omar Siddiq, and CSM participant Gillian Prader-Lee. The group will be meeting with several local clergy and touring Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Atlanta. During this time, Revs. Susanne Carter and Ken Jones are available in the event of an urgent pastoral need. Please contact the church office.

Yesterday marked the 50 year anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination. The
McGaffin Memorial Carillon bells rang out 39 times, one for each year of King's life. Congregation member Shirley Thompson
speaks on what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr means to her.

Outreach Opportunities
Saturday, April 7, 9:00am-3:00pm
Join us
again this year (our fourth!) to help rehab houses through the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity Apostles Build. Our final workday of the year is Saturday, April 7. This year we will be working to rehab a house in the West Park neighborhood on the west side of Cleveland.

Partnering with North Church, Sunday April 8 and April 15 -- This Sunday!
Thanks to those who helped partner with North Church in January. Our remaining two Sundays for 2018 are April 8th
and April 15th. You are invited to be part of a team of six to eight people, assisting from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm in preparing and serving the community meal that follows the North Church worship service. North Church, which shares space with Lutheran Metropolitan Ministries at 4515 Superior Ave., "carries out an active ministry to our community through seeking to build a vibrant worship community, community meals, and an outreach to homeless and street people and those experiencing mental illness." There are sign up sheets in the church office. For more information, call Bob Ault at 216-751-6094. North Church is a Covenant mission partner.
We are starting a new outreach of giving welcome bags to our first time visitors. Each bag will contain information about the church along with some homemade cookies. We are looking for bakers in the congregation who might be willing to bake a batch of cookies (6 dozen) divided among bags of 4-5 cookies each for a Sunday morning. Cornell University Glee Club and the Case Men's Glee Club

Join the Cornell University Glee Club and the Case Men's Glee Club as they perform a diverse range of repertoire for their joint concert at Church of the Covenant. This concert will feature folk songs and spirituals, grand selections from artists of the Renaissance, and pieces from across the world. The Cornell University Glee Club is proud to also showcase their new commissioned piece from Swedish composer Anders Edenroth, "In the Beginning". We hope to see you there at the last performance of Cornell University Glee Club's Great Lakes Tour!

Covenant Classics

The Covenant Classics event is being held on Wednesday, April 18th, at 11:15 a.m. Laura DeMarco, the Plain Dealer reporter, will talk about her new book Lost Cleveland. A box lunch will follow. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available. The suggested donation is $10. Sign up in the church office no later than April 15th. Guests are welcome.

Holy Week
