New Waterfront Park to Open in 2019
|

Development of
Hillsboro El Rio Park II has officially begun. Located on the south side of SW 18th Street between Dixie Highway and the El Rio Canal, this 14 acre site will become the newest City park with an estimated opening at the end of 2019.
After input from surrounding neighbors and recommendations by the Parks and Recreation Board, a new site plan was created, offering a park that will be open from dawn to dusk and will include the following amenities: Walking/jogging path with a fitness station, playground, 1 basketball court, 4 pickleball courts, 1 sand volleyball court, 2 tennis courts, picnic pavilions, a soft launch area for canoes and kayaks into the El Rio canal, parking and restroom facilities.

City Launches Program to Recognize Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Restaurants
The City of Boca Raton is launching a new initiative called
The Coastal Connection Restaurant Program. The program, sponsored by the City's Office of Sustainability and Recreation Services Department, will be introduced at the
Sea Turtle Day Festival at
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (1801 N. Ocean Blvd.) on
March 2, 2019.
This new environmental initiative will recognize restaurants in the community that are making sustainable and eco-friendly changes to benefit our coastal community. Participating restaurants will earn "Sustainability Stars" that reflect their level of commitment to the environment through certain actions.

Bring the Family to Touch a Truck at the Spanish River Library on March 16
Round up the family to see, touch and learn about and climb aboard our City's many fascinating trucks and vehicles at the
Touch A Truck event on
March 16 from 9:30am to 12pm at the
Spanish River Library (1501 NW Spanish River Boulevard).
Don't miss this family event where truck operators will be on hand to demonstrate how their vehicles work, explain what they do and pose for pictures with kids. Check out a fire engine, sanitation truck, aerial bucket truck, dump truck, beach tractor, rescue boat and much more!

Festival of the Arts BOCA Returns for 13th Year
Festival of the Arts BOCA has returned to promote the cultural arts and enrich the quality of life of the residents of Boca Raton!
This year's lineup of talented and exquisite acts features Star Wars: A New Hope with a Live Orchestra, cross-genre "little orchestra" Pink Martini, an evening of Russian music and ballet, jazz composer and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, and much more!

The City of Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services recently launched a new app called
PulsePoint that is designed to help save lives. CPR-trained citizens who have the app receive notifications from 911 dispatch when someone nearby is experiencing cardiac arrest. They can provide help while first responders are en-route. Learn more about PulsePoint on the
