"Tasting every vintage of every wine ever made of Hundred Acre was undoubtedly one of the greatest tasting experiences of my life"

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW has just published her thoughts from a complete tasting of every wine produced at Hundred Acre describing the quality of the wines as "jaw-dropping" and as "undoubtedly one of the greatest tasting experiences of my life".

Such praise is of course nothing new for Hundred Acre with Robert Parker previously proclaiming their Cabernet Sauvignons as "some of the very finest in the world".

We are pleased to be able to offer two of their latest releases, The Ark and Kayli Morgan, both of which received glowing reviews and perfect 100-point scores.

Do let us know if either appeal.

2015 Ark Vineyard, Hundred Acre
6 cases (3x75cl) - £1025 per case

"Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard is a total rockstar even at this incredibly youthful stage, strutting the stage with flamboyant freshly crushed red and black currants, black cherries, black raspberries and cassis scents with spectacular lilacs and fragrant earth accents plus sparks of cast iron pan, garrigue and grilled meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is charged with amazing energy, packing wonderfully vibrant black fruits, red berries and mineral flavors into a firm, finely grained frame, finishing very long and beautifully lifted. 2021-2065."

2015 Kayli Morgan Vineyard, Hundred Acre

6 cases (3x75cl) - £1025 per case

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard has a medium garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, giving up red and black currants, violets, lilacs and spice box plus chocolate-covered coffee beans, menthol, tilled soil and cardamom. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house, with loads of floral sparks and a very long, mineral-laced finish. Through the roof. 2020-2060"

"One thing was patently clear throughout the tasting: the consistency of extraordinary quality from start to finish was jaw dropping. And that's all I can say about the quality here. While the scores across the tasting may seem pedantically high, I can vouch, hand on heart, that none of the scores were given lightly." Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW

Notes on the vineyards from Hundred Acre, A Complete Retrospective Interim December 2018 Week 1, The Wine Advocate

Kayli Morgan: Jayson Woodbridge's first Hundred Acre vineyard, around just nine acres in size, Kayli Morgan takes the "Morgan" part of its name from Woodbridge's daughter. This is a relatively flat site, located in a remarkably protected little pocket among the hills at the base of Howell Mountain, on the way out of St. Helena and headed toward Calistoga. It may look flat, but it is in fact a clay-over-gravel "button" with a gentle rise in the middle of the property. Thus, there are at least a couple notable soil and topographical similarities to Pétrus in Pomerol, to which it was compared by Woodbridge's first consultant winemaker, Philippe Melka. Kayli Morgan was first planted in 1996, all Cabernet Sauvignon, and currently there is a section of recently planted vines that are not in production yet. In some vintages, there is an almost Pétrus-like restraint and ferrous edge to the wines from this place, which is provocative to consider among all the obvious differences to Pétrus, not the least of which it is a different grape variety. Woodbridge's first Kayli Morgan Vineyard and indeed Hundred Acre wine was 2000.

Ark: Ark vineyard is something of a geographical anomaly, composed of a vast array of volcanic soil types from many different eras dating back 60 million years. It is planted on slopes at the base of Glass Mountain just outside of St. Helena, named for the unusual outcroppings of black obsidian rock (volcanic glass), which is scattered throughout the vineyard. These are hillside plantings, forming a nearly perfect 180-degree arc that wraps around parts of the lower-lying Chabot vineyard. Around 13 acres are planted to a complex, veritable patchwork quilt of blocks, clones, rootstocks and row orientations. Although the vineyard is indeed shaped like an arc, it is also called Ark because one of Woodbridge's sons is named Noah. The first vintage produced here was 2005.
