Industrial Archeology: The President Pump
Sunday, March 24th
2:00-4:00pm
Have you ever wondered what the castle-like ruins and man made lake in Friedensville, PA, just south of Bethlehem, look like up close? What were they? What is their future?

Join NMIH for the only public tour of the site, where these questions and many more will be answered. The afternoon will begin at NMIH with an illustrated lecture about the site, a 19th century zinc mine with its own pump house, once the largest and most powerful single cylinder steam pumping engine in the world.
After learning the history, participants will board a Steel Street Tours bus to the former mine site where Mark Connar will lead a tour into the stone engine house ruins, where the engine operated before being destroyed over a century ago, and around the water-filled mine.
