Up for a wintery ride?

riding a bike in winter
This Friday,  Colorado is participating in International Winter Bike to Work Day for the first time ever. A February bike ride in Colorado can be a whole different matter from a February bike ride in Florida, but even more rewarding for the added challenge! If you feel up to the chilly challenge, we encourage you to sign up at  winterbiketoworkday.org/commit and join two-wheeled commuters across the metro area as we compete with cities around the world!

Also happening this weekend is the second of a new kind of meet-up with the District 2 City Councilor, Casey Brown. He is hosting Coffee or Craft Beers with a Councilor right in people's homes this year - if you are interested in volunteering your space for one of these monthly meetings, please contact Councilor Brown at cbrown@cityofgolden.net.

One last note - if you were planning on attending the Heritage Road Engineering Study tonight, it's been postponed. We'll be sure and post it here and to the website as soon as a new date has been scheduled.

Keep reading for more happening in Golden right now, and have a great week!

Let's Talk Short Term Rentals!

Staff met with City Council on January 18 in Study Session to discuss Planning Commission and staff's recommendations regarding regulation of short-term rentals (rentals less than 30 days) in Golden. Council agreed updated regulations should be considered and directed staff to begin to work with the City Attorney to draft an ordinance for Planning Commission and Council's further review and discussion. Council has indicated that they want all future applications for this type of land use to be considered based upon updated criteria and requirements.

As a result, Council has decided to put a moratorium on new residential short term rentals (Tourist Homes) in place for six months, in order to give the City time to research, draft and agree upon an ordinance to create this new regulatory framework. Your thoughts on short-term rentals are important to us. Learn more about short-term rentals in Golden and join the community conversation at  GuidingGolden.com.

Please take a moment to  register on GuidingGolden.com and then  take our short survey to provide feedback on regulatory considerations for managing short-term rentals (think vacation rentals like AirBnB and VRBO).
