at Shir Chadash

In the week of Yom HaShoah, we will study Leah Goldberg's poem Concerning Four Children, which links the four children of Passover to themes from the Holocaust.  A challenging subject, but the poem is profound and beautiful.

Please join Rabbi Silver for class at 11:00 am and a delicious post-Pesah lunch from Chef Johnson afterwards.

6:30-8:30 at Shir Chadash
Jewish Teach-In on Migration
The Tzedek Minyan, in collaboration with Loyola's Jesuit Social Research Institute and the Congreso de Jornaleros/Jornaleras, is hosting a teach-in to connect members of our community with the lives and stories of people who have immigrated to the United States from Latin America. Come learn about America's current immigration system, what our tradition has to say about the mitzvah of welcoming the stranger, and the life experiences of people who have recently migrated. The session will conclude with a discussion of how we, as individuals and as a community, can engage more deeply with this issue.

Supreme Court Cases and Jewish Values - Lecture
Tuesday April 10, 6:30 pm

Seth Waxman, former Solicitor General of the United States, is giving the Bernard G. Siegal Memorial Lecture at the Jewish Theological Seminary on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.  He will address three momentous cases currently before the Court: the travel ban, the First Amendment's application to a baker denying a wedding cake for a gay couple and whether a defense attorney can admit a client's guilt, over the client's objections, to save his life.

Can't be in NY?  No problem - we will be streaming the lecture live at the home of Stan and Ellen Kessler at 6:30 pm!

Snacks or perhaps a light dinner will be provided.

RSVP to Ellen Kessler - [email protected]
