Join us at Culture Brewing Co. in Encinitas on Tuesday, March 19 from 5-9PM. Enjoy photographer Ryan Harrahs show, "Head in the Clouds, Feet in the Sea," while celebrating Casas de Luz! Ryan's show will be on display throughout March, so check out his work even if you can't make it on the 19th!

Cycle Bar Fundraiser
Join us on Saturday, March 2 at 12PM at the Cycle Bar in Carmel Valley for a spin class benefiting Casas de Luz! Anyone is welcome, we just ask you sign up beforehand to reserve a bike. Feel free to bring a neighbor, friend, or family member!

Viva la Luz Concert
It's the time of year again for our annual Casas de Luz concert! This year it will be on May 3 at the UUFSD, doors open at 6. Join us for a live acoustic show from Lee Coulter, desserts, an exciting silent auction, and raffle!

Cross Cultural Connections
Join us in March for another Cross Cultural Connections youth group event at Faro de Luz. This month's theme will be music and dancing! CCC is open for any high school students with a basic knowledge of Spanish and their parents. Not only will we dance and sing songs with the kids, but teach about different muscle groups that we might be using while we dance!

Our first month of Despensas was a huge success! Families loved meeting their sponsors through photos and opening up their first bag of groceries. For at least 6 months, families will focus more on their future & less on finding food.

Cross Cultural Connections
|
On February 23, high school students from across the county ran a sports-themed youth group for the kids at our Faro de Luz community center, while the women were participating in a cooking class and learning about balanced nutrition. The kids played limbo, soccer, hula hoop, jump rope, and made new friends.
|
|
Ilona has been involved with CDL since she was in middle school. This is her third year as an intern. and she is making it one to remember! Ilona loves going on builds, interacting with community members and opening her heart to them. Thank you for all of your work Ilona!

In Memory of Don Olegario

A Warm Soul & Smiling Face

Don Olegario, known as Don Gallo in his community, passed away on February 19. He was the security guard for Faro de Luz and was always willing to go above and beyond to protect the community center since the beginning of construction. He always helped his neighbors and did it with a smile. We will miss you Don Gallo, and your service to your community.

Our building season is in bloom again! We have more than 15 builds planned for this Spring. Welcome back, we can't wait to see you out there!

Meet Mariana, Mateo (5), Amayre (11), and Milena (9). They have been living in a small room made out of scrap wood. Mariana is a single mother and works in a factory to support her children. We will be building for this family on March 9.

|
Sheds are at the end of the parking lot of the church if coming from the North. If you are coming from the South, take Via de la Valle and drive towards the ocean. On Del Mar Downs Road, turn right and continue until the end of the road where you will turn left. Drive left up the hill and the sheds will be on your left! There is a rope protecting our sheds from being a dump zone, so feel free to drop off your
usable
donations right there!

|
Are you remodeling your house or know someone who is remodeling their house? Save the windows! Keep them out of the dumpster and add them to our homes to provide families with the natural "luz" part of Casas de Luz!
