Library Small Grants
Apply until February 15.

NVCL's Small Grants program aims to promote cross-cultural connection among North Vancouver City residents. It provides seed money to support creative opportunities for community-led projects, events and initiatives that promote learning, understanding, and friendship among our city's diverse residents.  
 
Chinese New Year Celebration
Friday, February 1, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Join us as we celebrate the Chinese New Year by learning about its traditions from a representative from the Chinese community. In this fun, casual and informative talk participants will have an opportunity to meet one another and learn about the traditions of this global celebration, including a tasty snack. Indigenous Film Series
Friday, February 8, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

The North Vancouver City Library is excited to present a new program series that will feature screenings and discussions with indigenous filmmakers. Our first presenter will be Trevor Mack, an award-winning Tsilhqot'in nation filmmaker from the interior of BC.  Registration required.

Dare to Be Heard

Repair Café with Repair Matters

Repair Matters will be at NVCL to help fix electronics, housewares, textiles, mechanical objects, and more, so bring any broken item that you can carry with you and come say hi! Repair Matters is not able to fix phones, laptops, or do any clothing alterations. Drop-in

Postures and Prompts
Friday, February 22, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Andrea Winterbottom, a certified Hatha yoga teacher and Federation of BC Writers member will lead you through a series of pranayama (breathing exercises) and asanas (yoga postures) to open pathways to allow creativity to flow. Awaken your muse and take joy in writing to prompts that will prompt writing from within your core. Please bring your own yoga mat, pen and paper. Registration required

Parenting Teens Support Group for Mandarin-Speaking Families

In this monthly session, Mandarin-speaking parents will learn about a variety of topics, including communicating with pre-teenage and teenage children, Internet addiction and games, social media safety, dating and bullying. Registration required

Teen and Tween volunteering

The Library offers several volunteering opportunities for teens and tweens. Join our Teen Advisory Council, Tween Advisory Group, or the Teen Art and Promotion Group. Join the Read Along program, or help with library events! 

Random Notes of Kindness
February 1 - 14.

Pay it forward by writing a positive affirmation for a completely random teen. Write a nice note for another teen and it will be distributed on Valentine's Day. For every note you write you will be entered in a prize draw for a sweet treat!  Drop off your notes at the 2nd floor info desk.

Teen Gaming
Fridays, February 1, 8, 15 3:30 - 5:15 p.m.

For grades 7 and up. Drop into The Room to play your favourite "E" or "T" rated games for Wii or PS4, or play board games. Bring your own, or use ours. Drop-in

Board to Death
Wednesdays, February 6, 20, 27, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

For ages 16 and up. Come and play board games! All are welcome and new games are introduced regularly. This is a casual, fun, welcoming atmosphere and you don't have to be good at board games. Usually held in The Room, but check @yunorthshore on Instagram to confirm time and place. Drop-in

LEGO Robotics, Part 2
Tuesdays, February 26 and March 5, 3:45 - 5 p.m.

For tweens in grades 4 to 7.  LEGO Robotics Part I is a prerequisite for participation. Preference will be given to those who have not yet taken the Part 2 workshop. Registration required
 
Teen Book Club
Wednesday, February 27, 3:30 - 5 p.m.

For teens in grades 7 to 12. Love books? Come and talk about your favourite books with other teens. Books and snacks will be provided! Registration required
