In our schools

Science Amusement
Before Spring Break, the 8th grade classes at West Portal, San Francisco, CA, studied simple machines and how they work. All machines reduce the amount of work needed for people to perform tasks. To expand their knowledge of how they work in real life, the students were assigned to work in groups of two to four to create their very own mini amusement parks. It gave them the opportunity to be creative and look at machines in a whole new perspective. There were drop towers to explain fixed pulleys, boat rides to display levers, Ferris wheels to show wheel and axles, and ramps for inclined planes. Thanks to this project, the eighth graders better understand how simple machines work.

Congratulations!
After the final game of the Lutheran National Basketball Tournament at Valparaiso University, IN, there was one more award to give. For only the third time in national tournament history, the Lutheran Basketball Association of America gave out the prestigious Tom Schultze Award. This award recognizes leadership and excellence amongst the fantastic coaches that are present in our Lutheran schools. This year, the Tom Schultze Coaching Leadership Award was presented to Mr. Patrick Doherty, of Hales Corners Lutheran Schools, Hales Corners, WI. The school is so proud of all the time and effort he has always put into coaching and teaching his players, not just about the game of basketball, but teaching them to be strong young men in their faith and lives as well. Congratulations, Mr. Doherty!

April Visual Faith Bulletins
My Worship Notes (for kids) and Sermon Notes (for adults) for April 2018 are ready and available to download
here . These FREE bulletins are designed to engage children (preschool and up) through the entire service. Because they are listening for words spoken, they are learning the liturgy and biblical accounts. This resource also provides opportunities for family conversations and prayer requests throughout the week. Both of these resources are following the Lectionary and will be available for download each month. They are created by Visual Faith ministry team members. Website: www.visualfaithmin.org
