NASA EXPLORATION STORY

Expert Volunteers across the nation share the latest science discoveries of NASA's missions through inspirational events.

On December 1st, 2018, a NASA SSA Volunteer will be lecturing on the most recent Mars mission. The focus of the lecture will be a mission overview of NASA’s Mars’ Insight Lander. The primary goal of this mission is to understand the formation of terrestrial planets. Of all the rocky planets easily accessible to us, Mars is the only one that has best preserved its record of formation.

To understand the formation of rocky planets, we need to learn about what the interior of Mars is made up of, e.g. is the core liquid or solid, does anything other than iron comprise the core, what is the size of the core, crust, and mantle, and so on. Answering these questions and comparing the data to what we know about earth will allow us to improve our models of how terrestrial planets evolve.

Samira Jaweed's Recognition

Samira Jaweed received Women of Excellence Award on November 16th, 2018 for her work with ICGC's Rahma Social Services.

Letter of Recognition

Reaching Diverse Fellow American of All Faith

ICGC issued a statement about the horrific Pittsburgh synagogue shooting and its leaders and many community members participated in a number of services in support of our fellow Jewish Americans which received dozens of sincere notes of appreciation from the Jewish community. ICGC also sent a letter in support of the church that was targeted before the killing of two African-Americans in Kentucky which was a hate crime. Below is a heartwarming letter from that church. May we all learn to live in peace and harmony.
