Oh happy day! Our children's building is open again after being closed for 9 weeks!
On this second Sunday of Advent, our elementary children will be singing, and we'll again hear from our Advent Conspiracy organization - International Justice Mission (IJM). We hope you visit IJM's table in the Cafe to learn even more about this great organization!
Elementary parents, if your child is participating, they need to be here between 8:30 and 9am. We want to have plenty of time to have breakfast and get ready for singing and proclaiming the birth of our Savior! Remember that participating children need to sing at 10am and 11:30am.
After both services, be sure to stop by the Cafe and view the new art exhibit, "INVITATIONS", inspired by the recent sermon series of the same name. You can meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.

"INVITATIONS" Art Reception
This Sunday December 9th, after each service
We invite everyone to stop in the Cafe after the service to view the Arts Guild's new exhibit, "Invitations." Come visit with the artists and enjoy refreshments.
Calling all men who can carry a tune...
Men's choir practice - Tuesdays 6:30pm
The men's ministry is inviting guys who are interested in singing to join the men's choir that will sing during the December 23rd service. We are practicing every Tuesday night until then, at 6:30pm, in the auditorium. Contact Jim Price with questions.
HIM Food Pantry - service opportunities
Saturday - Dec. 15th- 10am-noon, and prep Christmas dinner boxes 2-4pm
Sunday, Dec. 16th - A.D. Players Christmas program
Two shows - one in the morning at 10am and a different play at 6pm followed by a fiesta and live nativity

ELEMENTARY DEPARTMENT
THIS SUNDAY, parents bring your elementary children to the kids' department between 8:30- 9am so we can have breakfast, practice, and get into our costumes. Children will be singing in both services. Parents can pick up their children back in kids' church after the 2nd service performance.
YOUTH NEWS
Youth will go to their classes this Sunday.
Tuesday Night Youth
6pm on the 3rd floor
Tuesday Night Youth is for grades 9-12 where we enjoy pizza, hanging out, and games, followed by worship and ministry time.

Help for families dealing with autism
Many of you will remember Melanie Boudreau who was an early member of Church in the City.
She has children with special needs and has founded a non profit to help families dealing with autism receive the help they need. Here is a link to her speech at the World Autism Organization. There is also a link there

Please pray...for Mark Simpson, who had heart surgery this morning!
Janessa Ornelas (11 years old) got good news from the doctors this week. Her leukemia appears to be in remission, which allows them to go for a 2nd bone marrow transplant. Church please pray for this little girl and her family! We will be having a blood drive for Janessa on January 20th, 2019.
