Episcopal Community Services (ECS) Spring Workshops
On
April 21 at St. Paul's, Akron and on
April 28 at St. Timothy's, Perrysburg, the ECS Grant committee will be sponsoring
one day workshops from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunities to:
- Hear from other grant recipients and learn how their program is impacting their community
- Connect and network with others and share how your program is changing the world
- Exchange ideas and best practices with others
- Learn how to get a grant to leverage what you are doing, or get a grant to start something new
Congregations currently receiving grants and congregations planning to request grants should send key people to one of these workshops. The cost is $15.00 which includes coffee, pastries, and a box lunch. Clergy Conference 2018 - Becoming Beloved Community
The Clergy Conference will be held May 1-3
at The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake, 4888 N. Broadway in Geneva
. The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Charles Wynder, Jr. The cost will be $225 for single occupancy and $160 per person for double. Conference meals covered: Tuesday dinner and Wednesday lunch & dinner. Breakfasts are on your own. Social hour will include a cash bar. Register at clergyconference2018.eventbrite.com. Stewardship Workshop Featuring Bishop Hollingsworth
(Early Bird Deadline Ends April 12)
This interactive full-day stewardship workshop is jointly presented by the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio and the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. There will be a panel discussion featuring the Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr., Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio, and Rev. Abraham Allende, Bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, as well as workshops presented by nationally recognized stewardship expert and author, the Rev. Dr. Clayton Smith.

Commission on Racial Understanding Event
The next CRU event is being held at St. Timothy's, Perrysburg. The event is 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on April 15. We will watch excerpts from the documentary 13th. It will be followed by a moderated discussion lead by Professor Shelley Cavalieri, a University of Toledo Law Professor. Please join us as we grow in becoming a more connected, informed, and caring community.

Spring Youth Gathering
The Diocesan Spring Youth Gathering (SYG) will be held April 27-29 at St. Andrew's, Elyria. As a part of the Spring Youth Gathering, Bellwether Farm will host a day of nature-immersion, fun, and service. Activities will include a Tree Planting for Arbor Day, prayers for and planting of the Memorial "Survivor Tree" seedling from the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, and a camp-sampler Bellwether Olympics. The Olympics will include events such as archery, canoeing, a trivia challenge, and more! This event is open to youth in grades 6-12. The registration deadline is April 20. Concert to Benefit the Herren Project at St. Martin's, Chagrin Falls will be held on Sunday,
April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Enjoy music From the Romantic Masters and support Stefan Barner on his 2018 Boston Marathon Run to benefit the Herren Project. The concert will also include soprano, Rachele Schmiege, accompanied by Renee Brown on the piano. The program will include songs, arias, duets, and ensembles.

Trinity Cathedral Brown Bag Concert Series
The concert series continues on April 11 with Salzedo Harp Duo performing stunning masterpieces for the unique combination of two harps. Concert will begin at 12:00 p.m. Bring your own brown bag lunch or you may purchase one for $7.00. Free will donations are greatly appreciated. Brown Bag Concert
St. Paul's, Medina will host a Brown Bag Concert on April 17 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. The concert will feature
Mezzo-Soprano,
Laura Avdey, with David Gooding on piano; performing Shakespeare Songs of Roger Quilter with additional songs by Leonard Bernstein and Maurice Durufflé. Presbytery of the Western Reserve Hosting Diana Butler Bass
Come hear Diana Butler Bass help us with our conflicting understandings of gratitude and set the table for a renewed practice of giving thanks. The program will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Willoughby on April 21. The program will go from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 and discounted books will be available. Bass, author of the acclaimed, award-winning Grounded, explores a gap: we may feel grateful as individuals but that seems to have little to do with the larger divisions in our societies. Using her trademark blend of deep spiritual insight and timely research, she shows how gratitude can be understood through four different lenses, examining how it affects us emotionally and ethically on a personal level and on a communal level. Me and we; emotions and ethics-gratitude plays out differently in each of these arenas.

The Great Spiritual Migration:
A Retreat with Brian McLaren
St. Paul's, Cleveland Heights, will host a retreat by nationally acclaimed author, speaker, and activist Brian McLaren on Saturday, April 28, from 9:00 a.m. until 5.00 p.m.
McLaren is a passionate advocate for "a new kind of Christianity" - just, generous, and working with people of all faiths for the common good. He is the author of more than a half-dozen books including his latest, The Great Migration: How the World's Largest Religion Is Seeking a Better Way to be Christian.
During
the
retreat, McLaren will share his belief that Christian faith is not dying. Rather, it is embarking on a once-in-an-era spiritual shift
.

2018 Mother's Day Bake Sale
On Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saint Timothy's, (8667 Shepard Road) Macedonia will have its third annual Mother's Day Bake Sale. There will be a variety of bakery items that were made in parishoners' own kitchens. Items will include pies, quiches, cakes, pastries, muffins, and cupcakes; all will be ready to give as a gift to mom or a special woman in a crisp white bakery box. We invite you to do your Mother's Day shopping with us.

High Tea at St. James
St. James', Painesville cordially invites you to an authentic English high tea featuring homemade sweets, sandwiches and freshly brewed tea, on Saturday, May 12 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The group will be joined by the New York Times best-selling author Claire McMillan, who will be speaking on her newest novel, The Necklace. The event will have one-of-a-kind baskets to raffle off and baked items for sale, just in time for Mother's Day.

People who live in St. Luke's Detroit Shoreway neighborhood are in desperate need of clothing, and we have an active distribution ministry. We receive donations of gently used clothing almost daily
, though, and it's hard to keep up with sorting, folding, and shelving
