Stafford County's New Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) over Interstate 95 at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) has opened with only one change to be made before complete. The new I-95 overpass will have drivers merge left through an X-shaped intersection, switching sides with opposing traffic, in order to continue straight.
According to VDOT, Courthouse Road carries an average of 16,000 vehicles a day and around 136,000 vehicles a day travel on I-95 near Exit 140. The $150 million project, to be completed by Summer of 2020, offers a new solution to relieve traffic conditions in Stafford and on I-95.

What's Next Showcase of ACES
Stafford was honored to be the guest speaker at this month's ACES event. Held at the Fredericksburg Expo Center, John Holden shared his visions for "What's Next" in Stafford. John shared his passion for innovation and creativity and noted that, "the opportunity I have had since arriving in Stafford as a 'come here,' has allowed me to look at things a bit differently. Not because I am special. But that being "from away" (as they say in Maine), gives me no choice but to think outside the box because I wasn't in the box." John highlighted recent developments and plans in the Centreport area, Downtown Stafford, and Quantico Corporate Center focused on e-commerce distribution, a new "smart city" urban center, and the "cross-roads of Cyber," respectively.
ACES (Architects, Contractors, Engineers, and Site Developers) is a construction/design industries group which hosts monthly educational/networking luncheons. The Clark Hulings Fund's Virginia Art-Business Conference Hosted in Stafford County
This past month, a number of artists, business, economic development, and tourism leaders met with 50 artists from around the Fredericksburg region to identify opportunities to expand and build a regional arts economy. Hosted by Stafford County, the Clark Hulings Fund brought together its experience and expertise for a three-day program designed to foster an art economy and encourage artists as business entrepreneurs. The City of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County and The University of Mary Washington were also sponsors of the event.

Stafford EDT welcomes new Business Development Officer, Josh Summits
Joshua (Josh) Summits from Pennsylvania has joined the Stafford County Department of Economic Development and Tourism team as their new Business Development Officer.
Mr. Summits' has joined the Stafford team after spending 10+ years working for the City of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, his experiences focused on community and economic development, business expansion and attraction, as well as underwriting and packaging business financing loan packages.

Stafford hoping to sell prime Centreport Parkway parcel
Stafford supervisors have transferred a prime piece of unused property along Interstate 95 to the county's Economic Development Authority for development, sale or transfer.
Joel Griffin, chairman of Stafford's Economic Development Authority, said an agent will be hired to market the property. Griffin hopes whatever business eventually lands there will generate job opportunities for county residents and revenue for the county.
