MARCH 2019 NEWSLETTER
Freely pursue excellence.
RAC Family,

Do you desire to perform at the highest level of your abilities, striving to be the best you can be whatever the task at hand? The pursuit of excellence is a noble endeavor… one that can bring profound meaning to your life. It demands vision, commitment, and discipline. It can be applied to every facet of your life and can spring newfound vigor and life to the otherwise “normal” daily experience. Once you decide to pursue it, your visions will become clear, your commitments will have direction, and your disciplines will have purpose. People don’t realize how ordinary success is though.

One must embrace the reality that excellence is mundane. Daniel Chambliss, a scholar and expert in Sociology, illuminated this truth in his works on Olympic swimmers. He demystified some of the commonly held misbeliefs surrounding excellence stating that it does not spawn out of some “unique” personality characteristic, quantitative changes in behavior (i.e. practicing more), or some innate natural ability. Rather, excellence is a culmination of ordinary learned skills or activities that are carefully habitualized and then “fitted together in a synthesized whole.” Excellence does not boil down to mere talent, but rather a series of intentional tasks compounded together over time.

Here at RAC, we work for excellence in all that we do. We aspire to cultivate an environment that inspires and empowers you to do the same. Now we implore you to apply these concepts to your health and wellness journey. Strive for excellence in every area of your life. You just might find your visions clearer, commitments more direct, and disciplines more purposeful. Your excellence is waiting.
