Q: What was the first job you ever had?
A:
I worked at Dairy Queen when I was 15 years old and I loved it! I made $2.00 per/hour for training and after completion I got a hefty raise to $2.40 per/hour. If you can believe it a small cone went for .40 cents and a large cone went for .70 cents. Also, there were no such things as blizzards or drive thru's for DQ!
Q: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
A: Knowing that I have a wonderful team of employees that I can trust to do their own jobs to let me focus on obtaining new clients. I spend most of my day calling and meeting with clients and to be able to leave the office and know that the day to day business will succeed without my presence is important.
Q: What is a piece of advice for all of our chamber members and potential chamber members about getting the most out of your membership?
A: Going to the events and talking to people is extremely important, as well as following up with those people that you network with. Creating relationships can help build your business with every new connection!

Welcome New Chamber Employee
Matt Urankar
|
Originally from Bay Village, OH Matt attended local St. Edward High School & Hiram College. During his years at Hiram Matt began his career in the hospitality industry by attending the Walt Disney World College Program. Upon completion of the program Matt became a Guest Relations Supervisor at Geauga Lake during his Junior year of college and in 2007 Matt graduated with a BA in Communications and a Minor in Journalism from Hiram College.
Soon after graduation Matt moved to Orlando, Florida, the "hospitality capital of the U.S." and Matt quickly found a role that took him to the high seas with Holland America and Celebrity Cruise Lines as a Cruise Director on the MS Eurodam. His job consisted of overseeing the entire entertainment department and hosting events and activities on board for over 2000 guests. Once Matt had completed three trips around the world he decided to settle down taking his high energy events back to Orlando working with all ages as a Lifestyle Director.
In 2016 Matt married his wife Jackie and moved to Seattle, WA to work as an Assistant General Manager for a private beach club boosting membership by 25% during the first three months. Matt's creative event planning for the club brought families together for Iron Chef competitions, Mommy & Me Tea Parties and the largest Food & Wine festival in the history of the club. Matt is excited to now come back to his hometown of Cleveland, OH to help all of the local small businesses succeed and grow in Western Lake County.
