DRAGON TALES
12/6/18

Dear St. George Families,
During this second week of Advent I am reminded of our role as parents and teachers in the faith formation of our children, as parents and teachers we play an important role in preparing the path for Christ to enter the hearts of our students and children.  In order to accomplish this, St. La Salle, says we must become like the angels themselves and concern ourselves not with the visible but with the invisible, not with our earthly needs, but with our spiritual needs.
As is always his way, he reminds parents/teachers that in order for them to be effective communicators of the message of preparation, they must first prepare themselves by disposing their own hearts to be entirely filled with God's love.
As we work each day to fill the hearts of our children with love for Christ, let us remember the all-important role we each play.  Let us remember that it is the greatest of all tasks that God asks us to fulfill-that of preparing hearts for eternal salvation.  As Christian parents and educators, this is not a role we should take lightly, and in fact we are blessed to be given such an important task assigned directly to us by Jesus Christ himself.  As St. La Salle says frequently, let us work together with an earnest zeal to accomplish what God wants of us as we prepare during this Advent season for the gift of Christ.
God bless,
Jack Nelson

NUT ALLERGY STATEMENT
REGARDING SNACKS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL
VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!
  • All food items brought to school for birthdays (PreK and K only), gold slip parties, holiday parties, retreats, etc. must be store bought and must contain a label. The items must be nut free, including but not limited to peanuts and tree nuts (almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pistachios, pinenuts and walnuts).
  • If a product label says the food item contains, may contain, is produced in a facility that contains or is manufactured on equipment that processes peanuts and or tree nuts, this item is unacceptable.
  • Home prepared food items are not allowed.
  • Please read labels and plan accordingly when choosing snacks to bring to school.

The December virtue is generosity. Generosity is giving without counting the cost. When we truly love someone, we want to give them all kinds of good things without worrying about how much time or treasure it will cost. Jesus Christ gave His own life for us without counting the cost - the best example of generosity ever!
Suggested Activities for families to practice our virtue of generosity together this month:
  • Adopt a needy family to help with Christmas. Shop as a family for this family.
  • Bake cookies as a family and bring them to a nursing home as you visit the elderly.
