Scripture: Luke 1:5-20; Luke 1:67-79

"The old song of my spirit has wearied itself out.
It has long ago been learned by heart;
It repeats itself over and over,
Bringing no added joy to my days or lift to my spirit.
I will sing a new song.
I must learn the new song for the new needs.
I must fashion new words born of all the new growth
of my life-of my mind-of my spirit.
I must prepare for new melodies that have never been mine before,
That all that is within me may lift my voice unto God.
Therefore, I shall rejoice with each new day
And delight my spirit in each fresh unfolding.
I will sing, this day, a new song unto the Lord."

~ Howard Thurman, The Mood of Christmas

"Simple Gifts" Advent Devotional
Attached to this copy of Bridges is an electronic version of the MIPC 2018 Advent Devotional. During the holidays, many find ourselves overwhelmed and stressed with busy-ness and preparations. We are left with little energy or time to focus on what the season is about. This year's Advent devotional hopes to offer the gift of simplicity. It invites you to pause and reflect in simple ways, grounded in Scripture, art, music, and prayer. We hope this devotional draws each of us into the wonder of the birth of our Savior .   Simple Gifts

Upcoming Activities & Events

December Sanctuary  Flowers Invitation
Celebrate the Christmas season by donating flowers from your family to honor loved ones, celebrate an anniversary or birthday, or the beauty and wonder of the Advent season. Flowers or holiday greens can be from a flower shop or your own garden, and do not need to be elaborate arrangements. Because some are allergic to floral fragrances, it's best to plan flowers without fragrances.
Thank you!

If you would like to sign up to provide flowers for an upcoming Sunday service or for more information please continue to this  link .
MIPC Theology 102 Coming in January
The study of theology is our search for an understanding of God, ourselves, and the world we live in. It is our faith seeking understanding. This winter we have our second theology class taught by the Rev. Dr. Shannon Smythe. There will be readings and discussion (but no essay assignments). The hope of this class is that everyone will find a deep conversation and open environment in which to learn about God. You do not need to have taken the first class - this class is for those who have never looked at theology and those who read Karl Barth for fun. Sign-up now at the front desk or online. If you are in need of a scholarship, please see Kristy or Lindsay.

Shannon Smythe, is assistant professor of theological studies at Seattle Pacific University and the author of two books.
