NOT a Free Dress Day. Students who wish to participate may wear appropriate pajama's sets, nightgowns, sleep t-shirts and sweats. 'Onesies' WITHOUT attached feet are OK, but students should have shorts and a t-shirt under the 'onesie'.
NO leggings, yoga pants, or slippers.
Students may bring a small stuffed animal, but NO blankets or pillows.

Families applying for financial aid must do so by

Current families will receive 2019-20 Registration Contracts on
Wednesday, March 13th.
Contracts are due back to the office by Monday, March 25th. Those families NOT returning must notify school office in writing by March 25th. Registration fee's will be debited from Smart Tuition accounts in April, in lieu of regular tuition payments.

Odyssey of the Mind
Congratulations to the 2019 St. Rose Odyssey of the Mind Team which received 2nd place in the Northern California Regional Tournament last Saturday. The team had weekly practices for six months, working on their project combining engineering and theater. They were also scored on their ability to 'think on their feet' when asked to solve a hands-on or verbal problem. They are eligible to go to the State Tournament in March. Thanks go out to the team members, parents, coaches and other school families who supported them. Go Omer!

Dear Parents,
A week from today is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of the Lenten Season, a time of year that the Church sets aside for us to work at becoming better Christians. This involves taking a look at where we are and trying to see where we ought to be. It involves testing our values and discerning how they stack up against the virtues that Jesus models for us.
The day before Ash Wednesday is known as Shrove Tuesday. The Christian tradition, also called Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras is to have one last feast before the serious self-improvement work of the Lenten season begins. In some countries it is called Pancake Day. In order to observe this Catholic tradition at school we are working with our lunch providers, Epicurean, to offer a complimentary pancake and bacon lunch to all our students and staff next Tuesday. There is no need to order the lunch, but if your child will not eat pancakes you should send a bag lunch that day.
Here are some ideas to ponder to make your own family's Lenten journey a positive one:
- There are five Sundays in Lent. Make a commitment to bring your children to Mass each of these Sundays. Your Easter Sunday will be more glorious and meaningful if you can do this. And who knows, it could be the start of a regular habit for Sunday mornings.
- Observe the abstinence rule of meatless Fridays during the weeks of Lent. I am old enough to remember growing up as Catholic when all Fridays were meatless. It's a pretty small sacrifice to make and as a child made me feel quite special and proud to be Catholic.
- Institute some form of family prayer. If you don't already say a grace before meals, this is a good place to start.
- It is a venerable Catholic tradition to "give up something for Lent". Experiencing this kind of discipline also teaches us humility and helps us focus on our reliance on God. The other side of the coin, which many people prefer, is to vow to complete some specific kindness or service-oriented project during Lent. If you do this as a family it is helpful to have a weekly check-up, maybe during Sunday dinner, to share progress on keeping your Lenten promises.
- Focusing together as a family on a particular virtue is also a worthy idea. The following Lenten prayer offers some ideas:

Fast from judging others; feast on seeing the best in others
Fast from discontent; feast on gratitude
Fast from anger; feast on patience
Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation
Fast from mean remarks; feast on compliments
Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness
Fast from exclusivity; feast on inclusion
Fast from waiting to be asked; feast on taking the initiative
Fast from self-concern; feast on compassion for others
Fast from discouragement; feast on hope
Fast from negatives; feast on affirmatives
Fast from apparent darkness; feast on the reality of light

Coming Soon - New Ordering process for School Uniforms
Parents will now place all uniform orders online. Our uniform supplier, Sonoma Design, will be launching an online store just for St. Rose. The next ordering opportunity will begin before the end of the school year, for August delivery.
The school will continue to keep a range of sample sizes for those who need to determine sizing, and we'll keep a small inventory of items to fill emergency orders when the store is closed. (The store ordering 'windows' will occur several times throughout the year. That schedule will be posted once determined.
St. Rose will hold a TRY ON date where parents can bring students to try on samples to determine sizing before placing orders. That date will be sometime in June.

Parking Lot Safety
Safety First depends on your cooperation!
Please remember, and tell all those in your family who drive onto our campus, to please drive safely!
Some important safety reminders:
- Be patient. Drive slow. Be kind. Do not impede traffic flow or others.
- If your child goes to tutorial, do not get in the pick up line before 3:10 pm. Do not sit in the traffic circle waiting. Circle around back in line to keep traffic flow moving.
- DO NOT leave your car unattended in the traffic circle during drop off or pick up. Stay in your car and move as soon as your child gets in or out. If you have office business, please park in a designated parking spot.
- Morning drop off: everyone is in a hurry it seems to get to where they need to go. Please do not speed through campus. Do not pass unlawfully or unsafely. Be patient. Plan accordingly.
- If a staff member asks you to move your car or to park, they are doing what is in the best interests of everyone and to keep traffic moving. Please be respectful and do what they ask of you.

Important Health reminders for All

Cold & Flu Season is HERE!
Have y'all gotten your flu shots?
- Child must be Fever Free for 24 hours without medication before coming to school!
- Keep children home if they have excessive coughing, or thick or constant nasal discharge.
- Keep children home if they aren't feeling well. A child who isn't feeling well, does not function well in the classroom, and likely will be sent home.
- Please reinforce with your children to cover their mouth when coughing, and to wash hands frequently.
Any medications your child needs to take during the school day, including cough drops, must be brought to the school office by the parent, and an Authorization to Administer form completed.
By law, we are not allowed to administer medication of any kind without written parental consent.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE OF THE FOLLOWING
- Pink Eye / Conjunctivitis is contagious Notify the school office if your child is diagnosed. 24 hour antibiotic treatment is required before returning to school.
- Head Lice is contagious. Notify the school office if your child has contracted. Child may return to school 24 hours after receiving treatment.

Notify the school office if your child has been diagnosed. Must be treated with antibiotics for 24 hrs, and feeling better before coming back to school.
