 Weekly Newsletter Publication
We try hard to send out the
Weekly Newsletter
on Thursday afternoon or evening.
This is often not possible because news
articles come to us so late forcing
us to work into the "wee" hours.
It would be a great help in accomplishing this goal
if articles for the Newsletter were
in
Kate's office by
Thursdays at Noon.
Articles coming in later will have to be pushed
into  the next week.

Thanks for your help.
Coming Events
Please check Rabbi's Calendar before scheduling any event involving the congregation.  We aren't able to advertise any events in the  Weekly Newsletter
or on the ShulCloud calendar unless Rabbi's Calendar has been consulted.

Hospice News

The following Sisterhood members contributed to a terrific hospice meal for November.  Our food is so good that the volunteer at the desk cheers when I show up to set up. Laurel is handling the special Christmas Day meal and we have enough volunteers.    Please consider volunteering  to bring food January 9 which is our regular day.  If you want to join us, please contact   Laurel Westreich at  [email protected], or at  201-317-5071 .   Thank you for your generosity.

Book Club News
I  received an email from Elaine Lathrop yesterday that said she will remain in NY indefinitely in January and won't be able to host discussion of The Grandees next month.

I'd like to postpone discussion of this book, perhaps to the end of March, when Elaine will be able to participate, since she proposed this interesting book (It's great, after you get through the first chapter!).

We will miss Elaine at the next meeting and look forward to her return.

Instead, I'd like to propose that we read an essay (not too lengthy!) on immigration by another Sephardic Jew, Emma Lazarus (of Portuguese descent).  I can give you the title in about a week. This reading would dovetail well with Sisterhood Shabbat (Jan. 18), which will include a selection by Lazarus and some thoughts on Jewish immigration.

The essay will come from Emma Lazarus:  Selections from Her Poetry
and Prose, edited by Morris Schappes.  I will make a couple of copies of this essay available when I receive my copy of the book.

I'd like to host this meeting at my home, 2815 Cambridge Drive, Wednesday January 30, 2019, from 1-3 PM.
