Town Receives Safety NL Helping Hand Award
At the regular public meeting of council on Tuesday, December 4 the Town of Paradise was presented with the 2017 Safety NL Helping Hand Award. SafetyNL Chair Wayne Chamberlain and CEO and President Len LeRiche were on hand to present the award. Each year SafetyNL presents a safety award to an organization exemplifying exceptional safety programs and initiatives for their staff, residents and patrons. The recipient employs SafetyNL training programs and practices, while demonstrating a clear commitment toward a culture of safety within their communities.

The Town is honoured to receive this important award, and would like to thank SafetyNL for the distinction. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with SafetyNL, and to maintaining the Town's commitment to the safety of staff and residents.
Winter Garbage Reminders
Residents are reminded about the following tips for Automated Garbage Collection. These guidelines help ensure safe and effective garbage collection during the winter season.
  • Wheeled carts should be placed near the end of driveway. Keep in mind that carts should be no closer than three feet from any obstacle (parked car, other cart, snow bank etc.).
  • Do not place carts in a location where snow plows may hit them. Wheeled carts must be kept from the roadway so as not to interfere with snow clearing operations.
  • On garbage day, carts must be placed for collection by 8 am. Please return carts back near your home as soon as possible after collections. To improve our night-time snow clearing operations, please avoid placing carts curbside the night before your collection.
  • Keep your cart clear of snow and ice and ensure the lid opens when the cart is tipped.
  • Please use extra caution when wheeling carts in snowy and icy conditions.
Winter weather has the potential to affect the Town's garbage collections, leading to cancellations and delays. Any changes to the schedule will be posted on the Town's websitesocial media and through the Pingstreet App. You can subscribe to receive notices.
Shoebox Project Christmas Donations
Town of Paradise Employees supported The Shoebox Project this year for our annual Christmas giving project. The project collects and distributes gift-filled shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness in our communities. Our employees collected hats, mittens, socks, toiletries, and other items, and filled 21 boxes to help make Christmas better for those less fortunate. To learn more about the initiative, visit the Shoebox Project  website.
Snow Clearing Regulations
With winter here, residents are reminded of the Town's Snow Clearing Regulations. The regulations are in place to safeguard against dangerous driving conditions in the Town and to enable our crews to work effectively and efficiently with snow clearing operations. Two main areas to be aware of include the Winter Parking Ban and the rules surrounding depositing snow.

The Winter Parking Ban means that no one is permitted to park an unattended vehicle on any street, road reservation or municipal parking area from December 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019, between the hours of 1:00 am and 8:00 am; and at any time during a snowfall and for 24 hours thereafter.

Residents are also not permitted to shovel, plow, and blow or cause to onto any street or sidewalk within the Town. Snow removed from a residential or commercial property must not obstruct vehicular traffic on a street or pedestrian traffic on a sidewalk.

In the event that regulations are not followed, the Town may issue fines or even impound vehicles. For additional information on penalties, please visit our Fee Schedule. Complete Snow Clearing Regulation information can be found on our website.
Paradise Plow Tracker
Did you know that you can track Town winter maintenance equipment with the Paradise Plow Tracker? The Plow Tracker is designed to provide an approximate location of plows and should be used for information purposes only. Please note that Plow Tracker information is refreshed approximately every 10 minutes so you may have to refresh your Internet browser to see updated information. Find the Paradise Plow tracker at Paradise.ca/PlowTracker.
