In the Gallery

"What is a Woman?" by Becky Marnard is on display at The Gallery at Three Rivers through August 14.

Dear Colleagues,

At Three Rivers, you'll find faculty, staff and students hard at work all summer long as they learn, teach and prepare for the fall semester. And, if you, or someone you know, would like to join them and fit in a class, there is still time! The final summer session begins on Wednesday, July 12.

Hope you're finding some respite from the heat and taking time to recharge.

With best wishes,

Mary Ellen

Guided Pathway Committee Gets Schedules in Place for Fall 2017
The committee has made great progress in providing first-year, full-time students with structured schedules that provide classes in unified time blocks and guarantee 15 credits in one semester. This will also allow students the flexibility they need for work or childcare.

Schedules are in place for the first semester of College Studies, Arts & Graphic Design, Exercise Science, Business Career, Pre-Nursing, and Sports and Leisure Management. Schedules for other programs are in the works.
Three Rivers hosts Third Annual Connecticut Early College Opportunity (CT-ECO)
Representatives from four Connecticut community colleges including Three Rivers, school districts and industry partners met on June 16 to discuss CT-ECO programming in Connecticut.

The CT-ECO program offers students an integrative high school and college experience, preparing them for high potential jobs in STEM fields.  Through the program, students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree, at no cost to them, while still enrolled in high school.
An Update on the State Budget
Per President Mark Ojakian's June 28 letter, until a full budget is adopted by the General Assembly, the state will operate within the framework of the Executive Order Resource Allocation Plan for Fiscal Year 2018 released by the Office of Policy Management. While the Executive Order is temporary, it does include a significant decrease in funding for CSCU. Because of this, the hiring freeze remains in place and spending at CSCU institutions will be closely monitored.
Congratulations Retirees!
Bon voyage to our friends and colleagues who are retiring this summer:  Larisa Alikhanova, Allan Anderson, Irene Clampet, Patricia Colonghi, Daniel Courtney, Cathy Davenport and Sharon Pirt.

Enjoy your next adventure!
