Three Rivers Offers In-state Tuition to Students from Rhode Island,
Massachusetts and
New York
Residents from the neighboring states of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York can now attend Three Rivers at in-state tuition rates, a savings of more than fifty percent! This change occurred after a successful pilot program that the BOR implemented earlier this year at Asnuntuck and Western.

Pipeline Initiative Named a Quality Pre-Apprenticeship Program
The CT Department of Labor recently recognized the Eastern CT Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative as a quality pre-apprenticeship program that prepares students for Registered Apprenticeship careers and strategies for long-term success.
Three Rivers, in partnership with the Eastern Workforce Investment Board, has successfully trained over 170 students in our Pipeline Initiative since April 2016, and t
he program also boasts a 93% employment rate!

Guided Pathway Committee Gets Schedules in Place for Fall 2017
The committee has made great progress in providing first-year, full-time students with structured schedules that provide classes in unified time blocks and guarantee 15 credits in one semester. This will also allow students the flexibility they need for work or childcare.
Schedules are in place for the first semester of College Studies, Arts & Graphic Design, Exercise Science, Business Career, Pre-Nursing, and Sports and Leisure Management. Schedules for other programs are in the works.

Three Rivers hosts Third Annual Connecticut Early College Opportunity (CT-ECO)
Representatives from four Connecticut community colleges including Three Rivers, school districts and industry partners met on June 16 to discuss CT-ECO programming in Connecticut.
The CT-ECO program offers students an integrative high school and college experience, preparing them for high potential jobs in STEM fields.
Through the program, students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree, at no cost to them, while still enrolled in high school.

An Update on the State Budget
Per President Mark Ojakian's June 28 letter, until a full budget is adopted by the General Assembly, the state will operate within the framework of the Executive Order Resource Allocation Plan for Fiscal Year 2018 released by the Office of Policy Management. While the Executive Order is temporary, it does include a significant decrease in funding for CSCU. Because of this, the hiring freeze remains in place and spending at CSCU institutions will be closely monitored.

News from Three Rivers College Foundation

Register Now for the Golf Classic
The 20
th
Anniversary Three Rivers College Foundation Golf Classic is set for Monday, August 14 at Fox Hopyard in East Haddam. Over the past two decades, the Golf Classic has raised nearly one million dollars to fund college initiatives and programs, student scholarships, books, classroom equipment and so much more.
There is still time to become a sponsor or register as a golfer.

The Paul Jones Trust
recently donated $15,000 to benefit TRCC's
Nursing Program. Due to the generosity of the trust last year, new clinical faculty were able to attend a nurse educators' workshop to enhance the knowledge and skills required to educate students in the clinical setting.
The Edward & Mary Lord Foundation
increased their endowed scholarship fund by $30,000 bringing their total endowment to $90,000! Since the establishment of the fund, the following students enrolled in an engineering discipline have been awarded scholarships: Jorge Morales (2015), William Harvey (2016), John Hoult and Aleksandr Vyatkin (2017).
The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut awarded $10,000
to provide non-credit Allied Health Training Programs funding. This critical funding provides underemployed or unemployed individuals living below the poverty guideline the opportunity to participate in short-term intensive training with pathways to sustainable employment.
The Estate of Wilbur B. Beckwith bequeathed $297,802.56
to the TRC Foundation to provide an endowed scholarship fund for TRCC students in need. Mr. Beckwith retired from the State of Connecticut as an adjunct instructor at Thames Valley State Technical Institute.
