Sean Langlais' Time Passages is on display in The Gallery at Three Rivers.
This innovative show juxtaposes large photographs with a solar sound art installation.
The exhibition will be up from October 17 - December 4.

Dear Colleagues,
October has been a whirlwind month. We held a ribbon ceremony for the Tutoring and Academic Success Center and began to plan for necessary renovations to the CUP building to meet growing educational needs for local industry.
Three Rivers has also responded to news concerning the plan for consolidation. I thank you for taking the time to meet with me at the two all-college meetings and hope you were able to attend the WebEx meetings on Tuesday, November 7 (staff and faculty) and Wednesday, November 8 (students). Questions at the forum were furnished by students, faculty and staff.

CSCU President Mark Ojakian and Three Rivers President Mary Ellen Jukoski cut the ribbon at the official celebration of the College's newly renovated Tutoring and Academic Success Center on Monday, October 30. The state-of-the-art, world-class center was finished in time for the beginning of the Fall semester, ready to serve double the number of students from the previous year. Read more here.

News on the CSCU Consolidation Plan
CSCU livestreamed two Students First community college forums with President Ojakian.
Both forums addressed concerns related to the consolidation of the community colleges and changes to each local campus structure. In particular, the forum addressed questions raised through the feedback surveys on changes in leadership positions, new coordination of enrollment management, processes for developing system-wide academic programs and more. The forums followed the release of the consolidation plan that can be read here: ct.edu/studentsfirst.
Three Rivers also held All-College Meetings on Oct. 23 and 26 to address faculty and staff questions and concerns regarding the plan.

 Three Rivers Bids Farewell to Edward Derr
Friends, colleagues and students gathered on October 16, to say good-bye to Student Diversity and Title IX Coordinator Edward Derr. In addition to heartfelt acknowledgements from students and colleagues, he received a commendation from State Senator Cathy Osten and
State Representative Kevin Ryan. He has accepted a new position as an Adviser Retention Specialist at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.

 Men Against Domestic Violence, Artistic Expression, Draws Crowd
Artists and students gathered on October 24 for poetry and art for the 4th annual Men Against Violence, Artistic Expression.
The event, coordinated by Frederick-Douglass Knowles II, was held in the art galley and was sponsored by the Community Support and involvement Committee. Pictured to the left is the art work of Alicia Cobb, who painted Mufasa Bastet (pictured).

Proposal to Renovate Part of the CUP Building for Manufacturing Training Facilities at TRCC
Three Rivers, in concert with our manufacturing partners, is planning a novel "Just-in-Time" and "Short-Term" educational training model to meet the urgent hiring and training needs of our local business and manufacturing sectors, including EB.
Our existing laboratories are insufficient in space to meet these critical needs. Therefore, in addition to existing laboratory upgrades, Three Rivers is working on a separate training space dedicated to non-credit training in the CUP building. CSCU and Three Rivers are pursuing support from the state with bonded funds already appropriated for manufacturing education. Stay tuned for future updates about this exciting initiative.

 Norwich's Civil War Regiment Honored with Plaque at Three Rivers
On Friday, October 13, officers of Sedgwick Camp No. 4, the Sons of Veterans of the Civil War, gathered at Three Rivers to dedicate a plaque honoring the 18th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry.

International Student Orientation Enhances Cultural and Academic Experience at Three Rivers
TRCC international students, faculty and staff met at the International Student Orientation and Luncheon on October 25. Students discussed their experiences with transitioning to this country as well as their career and academic goals for the future while staff and faculty introduced them to campus programs and services to enhance their education. S
tudents also learned about the student visa process.

 Fall Festival was a Spooky Success
The Fall Festival lit up the campus with music, laser tag, dancing and costume prizes. Over 80 students donned their Halloween finery for a ghoulishly good time on October 26.
