EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN'S WEEK MARCH 4-8EXCHLDWK
Exceptional Children's Week (ECW) is March 4-8, and the CBI department in conjunction with the Senior Class, Student Council, and PTO will be sponsoring a week of activities. The following are the themes and activities planned for the week. Monday: Read Across Fulton-Dress up as your favorite book character & read to the CBI students in the Media Hub during lunch
Tuesday: Career Day - Dress up as your future career
Wednesday: Buddy Day - Dress up as a twin with a friend
Thursday: Community Day - Come to Chick Fil A Avalon for simulations from 5-8 pm
Friday: Milton Spirit Day and Pep Rally - Neon Out!
Prizes will be awarded for the best outfits each day as well as overall for the week. T-shirts celebrating ECW will be available for $12. See Mrs. Terrell in 5204 or Mrs. Wludyga in 3310 to order OR c lick on the image below to purchase the shirt.

2019-20 COURSE REGISTRATIONREGISTRATION
Course registration for the 2019-2020 school year has begun! Friday, February 22, students were given the first verification form for you to view the recommendations and elective choices for the upcoming school year. You will find instructions for making class changes on that verification form. The form is due back to school Tuesday, February 26. Please continue referencing the Eagle Update and the Milton website for further information about registration for next school year.
Counselors will be available in the Student Success Center Monday, February 25,
during 4th and 5th  periods,  to provide support for students completing their Verification Forms.

New Course Offering for 2019-20! AP Art History This year-long course for juniors and seniors will offer students the opportunity to discover connections among forms of artistic expression throughout history and across the globe. Students will engage with an image set of 250 works of art, including architecture. For more information on this advanced placement course see Dr. Brown in room 7302.
STUDENT COUNCIL LEADERSHIP COURSESTUCOCOURSE
The Student Council Leadership Course is a year-long course designed to replace the student council "club". This course is required for any student wishing to be a class officer or student council member. It is designed to focus on social-emotional learning, leadership development, and positive class/campus relationship and community building. Students will practice practical ways to engage in kindness, humility, honesty, patience, selflessness, respect and more through implementing school wide programs, organizing community service events and planning school spirit events. Students taking this course should be interested in valuable leadership training and working as a team to make a positive impact on this school's culture and climate. Outside commitment includes helping with school events such as homecoming events, dances, service projects, etc. "Student Council Leadership I" will consist of freshman and sophomores and "Student Council Leadership II" will consist of juniors and seniors. SGC CANDIDATE DECLARATIONSGCELECTIONS
Milton will be electing representatives to serve on the School Governance Council.  We will be electing two parent/guardian positions during our spring election. Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of the school. The Council works with the principal in setting the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school's strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as designing innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community.
 
Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher positions on the School Governance Council will be held March 11 - March 18. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit by February 27.  
 
Candidate forms may be submitted electronically or by mail (get a copy of the form from the school's front office and follow mailing instructions on the back of the form).

Many of our students suffer from attention, focus and other related concerns. With so much information available, it can be overwhelming to know how to best support your child and ensure they are being successful in school. High school students have a lot on their plate and being able to manage it all can be challenging. Finding healthy solutions for struggling students is a priority. This seminar will discuss natural solutions for coping with the at-times overwhelming high school environment for students with ADHD, ADD and other focus and attention issues. The myths and facts of these disorders, what foods are the best for student success and what foods to avoid will be shared in addition to other practical tips parents can start utilizing immediately to help their children.

Informational Parent/Student Meeting for Advanced Drama and Cirque
Students and Parents interested in Milton Theatre Company's Advanced Drama and Cirque classes next year are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 5 in the Blackbox Theatre (Room 7104). The meeting will begin at 7:00PM. Students and parents will learn more about our award-winning program from current students, parents and directors. After a brief presentation there will time for questions and answers. Details about both audition processes (Advanced Drama and Cirque) will be discussed.

  5. In order to ensure your photos are included in the slideshow, please follow these instructions:

Cap and Gown Information:  Order Deadline February 28

*Mandatory-Cap and Gown Graduation Package ( for participation in graduation ceremony ) All graduating seniors who plan to participate in the graduation ceremony must order (at www.gabalfour.com ) a cap and gown graduation package that consists of a gown with embroidered M logo, cap, 2019 tassel, and diploma cover.   The cap, gown, and tassel will be delivered to school for student pick up prior to the ceremony date. The diploma cover will be given to the student during the graduation ceremony. Orders should be placed online at www.gabalfour.com . For those who cannot order online with a credit card, Balfour representatives will be at school on 3/14 and 4/11 to accept orders by cash or check.

One of the following options must be ordered by every graduate to participate in the ceremony:
  • $62.50 Full package (this price increases to $87.50 on March 1) OR
  • $26.50 Partial Package Diploma cover and 2019 tassel only (mandatory for those who already have a cap and gown-caps are not included in this package)
Deadline for ordering is February 28 , 2019 Ordering by this date insures free delivery of caps and gowns to be distributed at school. (price increases to $87.50 for orders placed on or after March 1)

Calling all rising 11th & 12th grade girls!
Girls Who Code is a nonprofit that inspires, educates, and equips young women with computing skills to pursue 21st century careers. We believe that all girls are capable of making a positive impact on the world through computer science. We are leading the movement to close the gender gap in technology and change the image of what a programmer looks like.
WHAT IS THE SUMMER IMMERSION PROGRAM? A 7-week introductory computer science course for current 10th and 11th graders (rising junior and senior girls). Program dates vary by region, but the exact program dates and locations can be found on the application. www.girlswhocode.com/sipapply

REGISTERING FOR AP EXAMS
As you know, taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Milton High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can possibly earn student's college credit for their high school classes, saving a significant amount on tuition.

If you choose not to take the AP exam, there is an opt-out form that needs to be signed by you and your parents. This form must be completed and returned to your teacher no later than March 11, 2019. The form can be printed from the registration site. Students can also get a copy of the form from your AP teacher.

Students wishing to take AP exams must register for their tests online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access. AP exams are given to Milton students at no cost. Students will have the ability to continue in this tradition by registering for their tests during the priority registration window.

Online Priority Exam Registration has started. You will have until Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM to complete your registration at no cost. Online Late Registration will begin on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 12:01AM, at a cost of $25 per exam, and end on  Wednesday, March 12 at 11:59PM.

In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/110060 to register.

To complete the registration, students must answer all required questions.  Registration is not complete until students have printed the confirmation .pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end.

We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered. Here are the important dates for the registration process:
  • 3/6/19: 11:59PM- AP Priority Test Registration Ends
  • 3/7/19: 12:01AM - AP Late Registration Begins-payments after this date will incur a $25 late fee per exam
  • 3/12/19: 11:59PM- AP Late Registration Ends

13 Milton Chorus Students at All State Chorus
13 Singers represented Milton Chorus at the Georgia Music Educators All State Chorus
They participated in rehearsals and performances with Conductors from across the country during the 3 day event in Athens, GA. Milton Chorus receives High Marks at LGPE
All 4 of Milton's curricular choirs participated in the Georgia Music Educators Large Group Performance Evaluation on 2/20. This event serves an an adjudicated assessment for the choral program where they must perform multiple selections and sight sing for the judges. The choirs received the following marks:
Bella Voce: Superior in Performance, Superior in Sight Singing
Chorale: Superior in Performance, Superior in Sight Singing
Concert Choir: Superior in Performance, Superior in Sight Singing
Select: Superior in Performance, Excellent in Sight Singing
Superior is the highest rating a group can obtain. Both Chorale and Select received Superiors in every category for their Performances. Congratulations to all these young musicians!

Congratulations to the Red Team for winning Champion of their Region! They will move onto Zone 4 Finals in Pensacola, Florida in March! They will compete against teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee! If successful in Florida, they will compete in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for the National Championship! Go, Eagles! A special congratulations to the following riders: Cat Gorman, Skye James and Finn Wright-Ford for receiving special recognition for winning the highest total points in their classes within the Region for the season!
