Join Chamber YPNs to Spread Halloween Cheer

For its fall community service project, Chamber YPNs will bring Halloween cheer and create Halloween crafts with Aspenwood Senior Living residents. All GSSCC members are welcome to join the event from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, at Aspenwood Senior Living (14400 Homecrest Road).  Be a Halloween treat and register  here.

Friends of the Library, Montgomery County  will kick off the annual F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Festival with a luncheon featuring a lecture by Lisa Lucas, executive director of the National Book Foundation. It starts at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, at the Mansion at Strathmore (10701 Rockville Pike, Rockville). $15 for FOLMC members, $20 for non-members (lecture only). * Artivate invites you to Celebrate Artivate!, a night of music, food, Artivate's signature cocktail, dancing, and an 'artsy' silent auction. The event is from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 19, at the Women's Club of Bethesda (5500 Sonoma Road, Bethesda). Advanced tickets: $60 per person, $110 couples. $70 per person at the door. * Sunrise of Chevy Chase will host two free health and wellness educational events. The first event is Chevy Chase Health Fair and Wellness Presentation, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 18. The second event is Orthopedic Presentation Joint Pain and Replacements by Holy Cross Hospital,  from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 25. Learn more and RSVP here.

* Interfaith Works  will host  Race to Empower MoCo 5K/1K  at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, at  751 Twinbrook Pkwy. in Rockville.  The registration fee will be matched by the Cafritz Foundation to support programs to benefit those affected by homelessness and poverty.  Click here for more information.

* Tommy Douglas Conference Center invites you to its Fall Festival Reception celebrating the center's renovation. There will be food, free beer and wine, and giveaways. This free event will be  from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  on Thursday, October 25, at the Tommy Douglas Conference Center (10000 New Hampshire Ave). RSVP by October 10 here .
