Last week, the Minister of Transportation announced a plan to review photo radar practices across the province. AUMA responded to the announcement, calling for more talk about traffic safety and less finger-pointing. Articles on the CBC and Calgary Herald websites referenced AUMA’s position on the issue.

Electoral Zone Assignments for AUMA Town and Village Members – Opportunity for Input

In accordance with the Bylaws of the Association, AUMA is responsible for annually reviewing the electoral zone assignments for town and village members. As part of this review, AUMA is inviting town and village members to review the  current zone assignments  and propose and justify any required changes to their electoral zone assignments.

A Reasonable Apprehension of Bias: When Frustration Crosses the Line

In a recent decision of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Court concluded the “demonstrated frustration” of the presiding officer of a panel of the Composite Assessment Review Board (“ CARB ”) raised a reasonable apprehension of bias.
