, the Rancho Cordova Police Department's (RCPD) e-newsletter.
RCPD is focused on making our City a safe and inviting place. We use a community oriented policing approach to continue to work towards this.
Community policing is a way for our officers to partner with our residents to identify problems, and work together to solve those problems.
One of the key components of community policing is the involvement of our residents. As we begin 2019, I encourage you to get involved by:
- Attending a Neighborhood Watch meeting
- Applying for our Citizen's Academy
- Signing up to volunteer
- Getting connected with the Rancho Cordova Police Activities League (PAL)
- Following RCPD on social media

Apply Now for RCPD's Citizen's Academy
RCPD is kicking off the year by launching our next Citizen's Academy. The eight-week course will provide our residents with information about the police department and its proactive policing programs, as well as tools and resources residents can use to help prevent crime. The academy will be taught by police executives and veteran officers on Wednesdays from April 17 through June 5 from 6 - 8 PM. Applications are due by 5 PM on Friday, March 29.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department has announced that it is the first agency in California to offer e-filing services for the Sheriff's Department's Civil Bureau. This new feature allows residents to file their court process requests from the comfort of their homes. Learn More

Every Kid Needs a PAL
FREE Friday Night Soccer Program Launches
Rancho Cordova PAL and San Juan Soccer Club are excited to offer Friday Night Futbol, a FREE Friday night soccer program
from Friday, March 8 through Friday, May 3!
The program is open to children born in 2009-2012 who are not
currently registered or playing on a NorCal Premier League competitive team. The program is designed to help children develop their soccer skills and encourage a love for the game of soccer in a fun environment!
Team and individual registration is now open.

Get Ready for March Madness
The Rancho Cordova PAL March Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament returns on Saturday, March 9! The tournament will be held at Mitchell Middle School and is designed for Rancho Cordova youth to come together for a fun day of basketball competition and skill building. Registration is now open for children in fourth through eighth grades.

Crime Suppression Unit
Story of the Month
On January 30 and February 11, 2019, a suspect entered Walmart in the City of Rancho Cordova during business hours and stole several hundred dollars from cash registers. RCPD Detectives investigated both burglaries, and they learned from Walmart that the same individual was suspected of committing similar thefts at stores in nearby cities.
With the assistance of video surveillance, RCPD Detectives were able to identify the suspect and suspect's vehicle. In addition, RCPD Detectives learned the suspect was on probation and had outstanding theft-related warrants for his arrest.
On February 12, 2019, RCPD Officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Unit conducted a search of the area near the suspect's residence.

FAQ of the Month
Q:
Do I need to get a permit when I install a new alarm in my home?
A:
Yes. The Rancho Cordova Municipal Code requires that all Rancho Cordova residents obtain an alarm permit from RCPD. Click here to apply for an alarm permit. A $50 permit fee is required at the time of submittal.
