New fire station to open in 2019
Lake Travis Fire Rescue broke ground Dec. 4 on Fire Station 606 that will improve response times in Lakeway by providing more depth of resources to handle more emergency situations, according to LTFR Chief Robert Abbott.
The new station at 17304 Hamilton Pool Road is set to open in spring 2019 with three vehicle bays, living quarters, offices, and a helipad.
County OKs sports complex design
Travis County commissioners recently approved the concept plan for the Bee Creek Sports Complex.
The $23.5 million complex is being completed via a partnership with the City of Lakeway, in which the city provides land it purchased and Travis County funds its development, operates it, and maintains it as a Travis County park.
Santa coming to town Dec. 8
Tickets are still available for Breakfast with Santa at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 8 at Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be meeting children individually, and the price of admission includes breakfast, a toy for each child and a photo of each child with Santa. Tickets are $15 per person and are available at the Activity Center.
Space is limited, and tickets are mandatory.

DoubleDave's Pizzaworks recently submitted a finish out permit request to the city for a new location in Lakeway Medical Village.
Officials say the restaurant will be about 2,000 square feet with pizza ovens, a buffet, and salad bar.
They anticipate starting construction in January and opening in April 2019.
The store will be the 38th DoubleDave's location, and former Lake Travis High School football player Andrew Nell will be the store owner.

Classes for ages 3 to 8 years old are scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 26-28 and Jan. 2-4, 2019.
Cost is $135 for Activity Center members and $150 for non-members.
