A Beloved Swim Coach

As part of our "We Honor Veterans" program, we recently thanked patient Walt Weed for his service to our country. Mr. Weed, who had a long career in Navy intelligence speaking five languages fluently and working as a peace consultant during the Vietnam War, is photographed with his beloved Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team. Making a Difference

There are so many kind hearted souls to thank at this time of year! We are grateful to local printers Creative Approach for donating 10% of any print job this month if you mention us; we thank the artists at Savannah's Kobo Gallery for donating all proceeds from sales of their handcrafted ornaments; and we thank Heavy Weight Transport for donating a $500 Kroger gift card to brighten the holidays for a homecare patient with six children. There are many, many other stories to share. For a full list of last month's donors, please click here

Georgia Medical Society honors the work of Full Circle grief counselors

We were honored to win a HealthCare Hero award in the "Health Care Innovation" category for our work in strengthening our community's capacity to help grieving children affected by gun violence. Read the full nomination for "We the Living: A Community-based Children's Grief and Violence Support Network" here, and please call our Full Circle counselors at 912.303.9442 for free help if needed.
A Blanket of Support

Despite often hearing the words,"We wish we'd called you sooner," we recognize that many in our culture are terrified of the word "hospice" and may never accept the help we offer. We truly hope that those dealing with serious disease may consider calling our Steward Center for Palliative Care for support and excellent symptom management. Watch as medical director, Dr. Laura Farless, explains how that extra blanket of support can make all the difference, or reach her at 912.354.8014.

Additionally, our Edel Caregiver Institute (912.629.1331) is here to offer free support groups, classes and advice to anyone caring for a loved one with disability, disease or dementia.
A Moving and Memorable Tree of Light
hospice savannah tree of light

Despite a torrential thunderstorm and tornado watch, over 150 community members joined us last weekend to remember and honor their loved ones. We are grateful to our Tree of Light 's corporate sponsors and the hundreds of individual donors whose gifts help friends, neighbors and families all year long by providing free grief and bereavement support for any child in our community.
