UNREST - Saturday, March 2, 2019, Denver
MEAction of Colorado is hosting a screening of Unrest, a Sundance award-winning film by Jennifer Brea, at 1:30 pm on March 2, 2019 at the Co-Op at 1st, 5045 W 1st Ave, in Denver. The event will include a panel discussion and audience Q&A. A minimum donation of $10 is requested.
Why would you want to view the film or tell others about it?
Learn about a devastating disease that is little known and widely misunderstood. The intent is to
increase the public's knowledge of this disease, mobilize the patient and ally community, encourage empathetic care from medical practitioners, and encourage more research in countries throughout the world.
Medical providers are encouraged to attend and can earn Continuing Medical Education Credits. Go to
https://www.unrest.film/cme
for details.
Twenty-eight year-old Jennifer Brea was working on her PhD at Harvard and months away from marrying the love of her life when she got a mysterious fever that left her bedridden and looking for answers. Disbelieved by doctors yet determined to live, she turned her camera on herself and discovered a hidden world of millions confined to their homes and bedrooms by
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
(ME), commonly known as chronic fatigue syndrome.
Unrest
tells the first-person story of Jennifer and her husband, Omar, newlyweds grappling with how to live in the face of a debilitating lifelong illness. But it is also a global story about an international community of patients with a serious, life-altering illness - millions suffering invisibly and left at the margins of medicine and science.
ME is a systemic neuroimmune condition. It causes dysregulation of both the immune system and the nervous system. The effects of ME are devastating enough to leave 25% of patients fully housebound or bedbound. At least 75% cannot work or go to school even part time. An estimated 15-30 million people around the world are suffering from ME. View the film trailer at http://bit.ly/YouTubeUnrest
