BCHF Online Lottery

For the past 3 years we benefited from an online lottery called Hotels to Help (licensed by the BC Lottery Commission) that raised over $55,000, and last year we launched Wine Country to Help, which raised over $15,000. This year we will have ONE online lottery in mid- October.

We’re looking for “experiential prizes” that we can combine with several restaurant gift cards we have on hand to give people exciting trips within BC.
Lottery prize donations can be made redeemable for 2021 dates only.
The lottery is promoted with press releases and online.  We receive well over 30,000 views of the lottery prizes.

Examples would be:

  • Accommodation, meals, experiences & VIP tastings
  • Please note that alcohol can’t be a prize for this lottery
  • Deadline for lottery items is August 10th, 2020

  • Expected dates of lottery: October 13th - November 1, 2020 (pending license approval)
  • Prizes drawn November 2nd.

The summer is finally here and underway. By this time we would have had our Vancouver Golf Tournament and we would be finalizing details for the Victoria Golf Tournament.

These events are important fundraisers for the Foundation.
INDUSTRY SUPPORT
Like many charities, the BCHF’s fundraising model, which relies almost entirely on events and social engagements, has been turned completely upside down. It is a devastating reality that will likely last well into 2021, and so we are now strategically revising our entire course of action for 2020, as we shift from events-based fundraising into new, socially distant territory.

We are fortunate and proud to be part of this industry, which has so much heart and passion; and we have already had some long-standing liquor manufacturing and retail partners come forward with turnkey fundraising initiative that have brought in cash, helping alleviate immediate sustainability issues for us as a charity.

We truly acknowledge your help by choosing to make purchases that support our industry!

Below is a list of promotions currently running that benefit the BCHF.

COVID-19 Charity Adaptation and Innovation Fund - Canada Helps
NEW: Help charities adapt and innovate to survive these challenging times.

Charities have been hit hard by COVID-19. In Canada, 1 in 5 Canadian charities have already suspended operations or stopped programs, 1  and some have already closed their doors permanently. In the midst of it all, many charities are experiencing a higher demand for services. Plus, almost every charity is needing to adapt to our new normal while facing economic challenges and continued social distancing which has caused the cancellation of fundraisers and loss of critical funding.

Your gift will help some charities transform their service model to invest in technology so they can adapt existing or create new programs to serve those most in need. Your support will help other charities keep their employees, volunteers, clients, and participants safe with training, education, new sanitation practices, and will purchase materials such as personal protective equipment or plexiglass barriers. Other charities will develop new strategies, collaborate with other nonprofits, and explore new ways of serving their constituents so they survive today, and through the remainder of this crisis.

Donate today to help Canadian charities survive and adapt to our new world . Plus, get a charitable tax receipt to qualify for tax credits!

INFORMATION AND WELLBEING LINKS

We have a COVID19 information and wellbeing links page on our website that may be of interest.
The BCHF is a charity that supports hospitality workers facing financial crisis due to a health condition. These are the people who work in your favourite restaurants, wineries, breweries, bars, and hotels. Often with limited access to benefits or financial aid, our beneficiaries have nowhere else to turn if a health condition arises. Your support has a meaningful impact by getting them back on their feet again.
