All-new Creative Kids activities

Get your hands on amazing robots, creepy crawly bugs, Virtual Reality and a gooey, gloopy slime laboratory! These are just some of the exciting new Creative Kids activities at your local library in 2019.

While the kids are getting messy they won't realise they are learning about maths, science, working with others, and finding out the answers to "why?" and "how?".  Sessions are suitable for children aged 5 and up and adults will love joining in. No bookings are necessary.

Check out our website for regular programming across all of our libraries.
Supporting your community group

City of PAE Libraries is passionate about partnerships with a variety of community groups across our city.

We're empowering and supporting young mums through our new partnership with Bump, a fantastic initiative from Raise. With sessions beginning soon at Parks Library, Bump offers young mothers free cooking, art, skill-building, budgeting help and more, while Raise volunteers receive free accredited mentor training. Become a mentor or join the Bump program by visiting www.raise.org.au/portfolio/bump.

You can discuss programming and partnership opportunities with City of PAE Libraries, or simply hire one of our modern community spaces, by contacting us.

A special guest at Storytime

Storytime featured an extra-special treat last month when City of Port Adelaide Enfield Mayor Claire Boan visited Port Adelaide and Greenacres libraries to read stories and lead children (and adults!) in songs and rhymes.

Familiar faces and newcomers alike enjoyed classics like "Incy-Wincy Spider" and "Five Little Ducks" delivered as only a Mayor can. We couldn't tell who had more fun - was it the children or our Mayor?

With stories chosen to elicit your child's imagination, songs to learn together and sing at home and craft to create and place proudly on the fridge, Storytime is wonderful for 2 to 4-year olds and happens weekly at our five libraries.

Check the Event Calendar for specific days and times at your local library.
Author talk with Denise Brooks

A draconian orphanage in 1950s South Australia is the setting for Jae-Dee Survives The Home of Many Mothers, a new novel by Denise Brooks inspired by real events. Peel back its layers of trauma, challenge and triumph with Brooks in an Author Talk event at Port Adelaide Library on Saturday 2 March at 1pm.

The book's vulnerable child's-eye view of the welfare system is tragic yet hopeful - an inspiring story of perseverance that applies as much today as it did in the past. With an introduction from Stephanie Key,  Jae-Dee Survives The House of Many Mothers is a  valuable account of welfare in post-war South Australia.

Bookings are essential. Secure your spot via the Event Calendar.
Our new pop culture and games clubs

The focus is on fun and entertainment in the newest clubs at City of PAE Libraries.  Talk movies and TV, challenge friends to strategy board games or flex your vocab muscles in a friendly Scrabble match.  Bookings aren't needed and everyone is invited! You'll make new friends and keep your mind sharp, too.

- Scrabble Club: friendly competition at Port Adelaide Library, Mondays, 2.30pm

Board Games Club: Modern titles and old favourites at Port Adelaide Library, Thursdays, 5.30pm

- Movie Wednesdays: A different movie every week at the Parks Library community room, Wednesdays, 1pm
