Greetings!

It was recently announced that the Los Angeles Angels are in talks with the City of Long Beach as a potential destination for the team and building of a new stadium. Links to several news articles are below. These talks are only just the beginning and are in the very early stages. Your Chamber looks forward to the dialogue and the process. Today I issued the following statement:

"We are pleasantly surprised to hear the news about the Major League Baseball's LA Angels possible move to Long Beach. The fact that such an opportunity can exist is exciting. We applauded the early preliminary talks by both the Angels and the City. The Chamber recognizes this is in its early stages; however, we will be ready to roll up our sleeves and start working with all parties involved as the process unfolds.

The mere talk of Long Beach being a destination for a major sport team such as the LA Angels is a testament to the hard work by the city, the community and business to attract such a world class organization. Long Beach continues to evolve as the go-to destination in the region for entertainment and work-life balance with a vibrant downtown, a bustling waterfront, and a diverse community waiting for the next big thing to happen."

We look forward to what is next and sharing more information in the coming days and weeks.

...and that's strictly business.
