Stomping and stumping for the grape:
The grape is well recognized by wine enthusiasts. However, Meggie and John Schissler don't believe it gets deserved kudos for its enrichment to chicken salads and side salads. Fortress Presents and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth have combined for a series of three live, contemporary music concerts in the Modern's intimate auditorium. First up in the Modern Music series, March 7 at 8 p.m., is Jerusalem In My Heart, featuring the acclaimed Arabic audio-visual duo of musician/producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and experimental analog filmmaker Charles-André Coderre. The visuals are 16mm film loops; the music is "Moumneh's melding of "traditional melismatic singing (in Arabic) and buzuk playing, with modern deployments of modular synthesis, filter banks, power electronics and field recordings." The Modern's Kendal (Jump in the) Lake hummed over two tickets for two readers.

March 15 is the last day you can nominate yourownself or others for the Chamber's Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award. Mr. B is the early frontrunner, according to pollsters, but there's time for someone better to pull it out. Susan, long an outstanding Partner/attorney at Jackson Walker in Fort Worth, was a former Chair of the Chamber Board, founding member of the Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council and a Fort Worth Business Press "Great Women of Texas." She passed away from colon cancer in December 2014. The award honors a president, principal or CEO for qualities such as business advancement, vision and inspiration.

For about 30 years, beginning in the '80s, employees wondered when their jobs might become extinct because of machines. Today, with less labor available than open jobs, we need more machine labor.
Happy 30th:
In its 30 years, AllianceTexas has had an estimated $76.5 BILLION economic impact in north Texas. Already 500 companies are located within and Mr. B is guessing only 27 percent (45 million square feet) of the total acreage has been developed. To date, Hillwood has paid $2.25 billion in property taxes. Mr. B sure hopes they know property tax genius Mike Flynn at B2B sponsor Southland Property Tax Consultants.
Train spotting:
Since it arrived in Fort Worth during 2013, GE Manufacturing, up to 800 employees, has built 1,500 new locomotives. Half have been sold to neighbor BNSF Railway. From its headquarters, it also monitors 17,000 locomotives around the world. Monday, Wabtec completed its merger with GE Transportation and Wabtec became a Fortune 500 company.

Angela Pereira, now at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, is the 2019 Engineer of the Year, selected by the Fort Worth Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers. High-profile projects she has been part of include Alliance Airport runway expansion, DFW International Airport Taxiway Systems expansion, Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth Zoo and Trinity River Authority Interceptor Relief projects.
