Stomping and stumping for the grape:  The grape is well recognized by wine enthusiasts. However, Meggie and John Schissler don't believe it gets deserved kudos for its enrichment to chicken salads and side salads. So they do something about it at their two Chicken Salad Chick locations. There's the Fancy Nancy, chicken salad with Fuji apples, seedless grapes and pecans, or the Fruity Fran, chicken salad with Fuji apples, seedless grapes and pineapple. Who's hungry now? Meggie sent over a prize that includes  two large Quick Chick flavors , two large side items, three buttercream flower cookies and two cozies.

Red-light special: Matt Zavadsky is the Chief Strategic Integration Officer for  MedStar Mobile Healthcare. Mr. B thinks that means he gets you integrated onto a stretcher and into an ambulance nice and comfy. Whatever. He was telling Mr. B last year the average cost of an ambulance ride is more than $1,500. So MedStar has a smart deal with ride-hauling services for non-emergency transportation. But if you need an ambulance, MedStar offers a fabulous " additional insurance" deal for families; $69 and you have unlimited emergency ambulance services. Takes care of what insurance won't cover. Matt and Richard Brooks are giving away a membership.

Not horsing around: One of the most anticipated openings in the Cultural District is the 2nd floor renovation of the National Cowgirl Museum, which debuts March 9th with the exhibition It's Never Just a Horse. It showcases how horses have impacted the lives of women and pays tribute to the power of women, the power of horses and the special bond between the two.  Membership maven Sherry wants you to get a special invite to the March 7th sneak peek. And there's more: A Rodeo Family membership with benefits for five .  The membership includes: 1) Free admission to the National Cowgirl Museum, Cattle Raisers Museum and Fort Worth Museum of Science and History; 2) Free grounds admission to the 2020 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo; 3) Free parking in the Museum Lot except during the Stock Show; 4) Discounts in The Shop at The Cowgirl; and 5) Invitations to members-only events.

Buzuk is a lute. Got it?  Fortress Presents and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth have combined for a series of three live, contemporary music concerts in the Modern's intimate auditorium. First up in the Modern Music series, March 7 at 8 p.m., is Jerusalem In My Heart, featuring the acclaimed Arabic audio-visual duo of musician/producer Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and experimental analog filmmaker Charles-AndrĂ© Coderre. The visuals are 16mm film loops; the music is "Moumneh's melding of "traditional melismatic singing (in Arabic) and buzuk playing, with modern deployments of modular synthesis, filter banks, power electronics and field recordings." The Modern's Kendal (Jump in the) Lake hummed over two tickets for two readers.

Congratulations to the February 20th

A WORD FROM OUR GOLD SPONSORS

HE SAID, SHE SAID, THEY SAIDSoundBytes
Good eats: Todd Phillips, formerly with Reata Restaurant and JR's in Colleyville, is finishing training and will be the Executive Chef at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse.

Is this story thin on facts? Marketing magician John Fletcher, who won a case of Girl Scout Thin Mints in a recent B2B Insider giveaway, knows the power of the cookies. " I once had a phone conversation with the sales director at a hotel property. I asked if the hotel would donate a room night for an auction and she said they had reached their limit on donated rooms. I replied, 'I have a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints for you if you can make it happen.' Her reply; 'You can pick up the certificate for BOTH of your rooms after 2:00 today if you'll bring me two boxes of Thin Mints!' This is where I learned that Girl Scout Thin Mints are as valuable as gold."

Awards season: March 15 is the last day you can nominate yourownself or others for the Chamber's Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award. Mr. B is the early frontrunner, according to pollsters, but there's time for someone better to pull it out. Susan, long an outstanding Partner/attorney at Jackson Walker in Fort Worth, was a former Chair of the Chamber Board, founding member of the Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council and a Fort Worth Business Press "Great Women of Texas." She passed away from colon cancer in December 2014. The award honors a president, principal or CEO for qualities such as business advancement, vision and inspiration.
"Don't be afraid to put on the glass slipper. It might just fit. As the second female chairman in the history of the Chamber, I'm glad I put it on. That story may not mean much to you men out there, but for women, shoes communicate."

-- Susan Halsey, former Chamber Chair

Ironic: For about 30 years, beginning in the '80s, employees wondered when their jobs might become extinct because of machines. Today, with less labor available than open jobs, we need more machine labor.

Happy 30th: In its 30 years, AllianceTexas has had an estimated $76.5 BILLION economic impact in north Texas. Already 500 companies are located within and Mr. B is guessing only 27 percent (45 million square feet) of the total acreage has been developed. To date, Hillwood has paid $2.25 billion in property taxes. Mr. B sure hopes they know property tax genius Mike Flynn at B2B sponsor Southland Property Tax Consultants.

Train spotting:  Since it arrived in Fort Worth during 2013, GE Manufacturing, up to 800 employees, has built 1,500 new locomotives. Half have been sold to neighbor BNSF Railway. From its headquarters, it also monitors 17,000 locomotives around the world. Monday, Wabtec completed its merger with GE Transportation and Wabtec became a Fortune 500 company.

Kudos: Angela Pereira, now at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, is the 2019 Engineer of the Year, selected by the Fort Worth Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers. High-profile projects she has been part of include Alliance Airport runway expansion, DFW International Airport Taxiway Systems expansion, Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth Zoo and Trinity River Authority Interceptor Relief projects.
