Instead of
Gathering
This Sunday, March 3
Please Enjoy the *Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast!

I will miss gathering as
Gathering
. I love it when you preach the sermon I thought I would be preaching during Table Talk. I love it when we are all together and the Spirit blows and we all grow deeper into Love.
But this Sunday will not be
too
disappointing: we get to show up and eat pancakes. Some lovely person will flip pancakes up in the air and they will land on your plate. There will be sausage and orange juice and Stauf’s coffee.
And we still get to see each other.
And the Spirit of the Living God will still do her thing.
Yours on the journey,
Katie

Ash Wednesday Service
Wed., March 6, 7pm, Sanctuary
Childcare provided.
Join us as we mark this special time, as we begin our Lenten journey. We will not only look our mortality in the eye: we will know ourselves to be bodies made of star dust who are filled with the very breath of God. We will name ourselves “beautiful messes”, and we will begin traveling together toward new life.

Youth
Pave The
Way
Update
This summer our youth will be attending the Presbyterian Youth Triennium at Purdue University. This is an event for high school students where we will meet with thousands of other young Presbyterians to worship, learn, discuss and grow. This is a life-changing, life-giving and faith growing gathering that will shape the leadership gifts of our youth and deepen their faith and discipleship.
Our goal is $7,000 and we're more than halfway there.
We are hoping to reach the total goal by the end of February so that we will be able to pay part of the fee for each of our high school students. Contributions can be made via check, or Zelle through your bank using giving@covenantpcusa.org with the memo

Transition Plans for Covenant
A search committee for an interim senior pastor is underway now, and we expect to have someone in that role perhaps just after Easter.
In the meantime, Katie Kinnison will be acting head of staff between the time Tracy leaves and our gap pastor, Don Hilkerbaumer, arrives March 21st. We move into this time of transition as the body of Christ we are, taking care of one another and doing our work of bearing love into the world.

2019 Per Capita is $35.75 Per Member
Each member of Covenant is also a member of the larger church, the Presbyterian Church USA. As such, it is part of our responsibility to support the work of the administrative bodies of the national church – the General Assembly, the Synod, and the Presbytery. We do this by making a per capita payment each January. The per capita for 2019 is $35.75 per member, for a total payment due of $21,093. This figure is based upon our church membership roll as of Dec. 31, 2017. We invite you to pay your share of the per capita so that this money does not need to come from this year’s budget. Your contribution will free up funds for other vital church programs that meet the spiritual needs of our congregation. Envelopes are on the welcome table.
